Hi ScottN,

Any story with this one, bayonet looks in nice condition; any other photo's? Looks like No.41?0 but will leave that to JMB.

The scabbard is early Aussie scabbard (A in small star) marked to 2nd. Military District (N.S.W.).

Cheers,

TR

No story with it. Here’s another that just showed up on same post. 96 I think.

Interesting; I do not use Facebook. Are they selling them or something, or other collectors maybe?. Keep watching.

The new number is 96, so that is a couple more JMB will be able to add to list.

I think they should be the same numbers but I have noticed that some numbers have an extra wiggle ? on them sometimes, noticed it on the number 5 especially.

Terry

Another smiling tiger for the list, just showed up on the bay. Nice clearly marked 590 in all metal scabbard. The No. 5 has the extra wiggle on top to what the chart shows

TR

Mr. Ryan & Mr. Scott,

All best wishes for the New Year.

I have come across a few more numbers online, so total is around 103 (includes the partial numbers).

Is there anything new on the Siam bayonets to report from down under?

Regards,

JMB

Best wishes to you also.

Always on the lookout for any new numbered Siam. bayonets, or anything else interesting but nothing new at the moment.

Would have to say that this looks like the number 10,000. That would make it the highest number we are likely to see as supposedly there were only 10,000 of these 1907 Siamese contract bayonets made.

TR

An on-line search brought up another five at auction houses (1485; 5405; 6013; 6107; 8181) so I updated the Table to include the #10,000 ( x = indecipherable numeral).

Thanks for everybody's help with this little project!

Regards, JMB

5th,

Judging from your posts of spectacular examples, it occurs to me that you know where a LOT of very nice militaria is located!!!

But, do you know where the 100th Siamese serial number is?

We currently have recorded 99 of these.

Are there any in museums in NZ that may hold one or two?

Regards,

JMB

JMB,

On page 216 of my copy of M J Brayley,s 2004 "Bayonets, An Illustrated History" is a very clear photo of Siamese bayonet No 1889 along with its metal scabbard, a survivor for sure. Seen it before but did not realize it was not on list and was not sure if permitted to post photo.

Cheers

TR
