My good doctor, simply have a sneaky peak using the NA sneaky peaking tool.

I did, and ascertained that 214524 served until 1925.

The date of birth is way out but there is a record for Joseph Ennis RNR  born Drinagh, Wexford in 1875 at the National Archives   BT/377/7/35721.

I've been looking at him.  He did have Phthisis, and he was deceased, but I can't make head or tail of the pension scribble.

Hi Paul,

Finding records of naval personnel is a bit of a black art, and a bit of a mystery to us landlubbers.

As I understand it , there are about 3 or 4 drifferent naval series of records that can searched, under the ADM prefix (Army records are under WO, ad air force under AIR).

There are service records for sailors held at the National Archive and the index can be searched for free:

https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/

I have to tell you though, that searching for 'ADM Peter McHugh' hasn't brought up anything on my searches.

Perhaps a proper naval expert can better advise us on where to go next.

Thanks for the reply Dai. I think I will have to just keep trying.

Paul.
