A great find, thank you Mark, well done! If we could find his records or the vital sheet we would be well on the way to having him added.

Thanks again Mark.

 Kind regards.

Cannot find a CWGC record for him at the moment. There is a WFA Pension Card but adds nothing useful. Widow Lucy. On the cards and effects register. War Gratuity shown as Not Admissable. Need the expert on that.

Great stuff lads, thank you very much indeed. After a bit of a Google I see that Castlehaven, is a townland in the parish of Castletownsend near Skibbereen, so that lines up the arrows, we can now proceed. Thanks again for all your help.

Kindest regards.

Tom.

Just going back to Sgt James Hickey (post 1552). The RIC Pension Records suggest he was still drawing a pension in June 1922 so this confirms he would not be one of yours ?

Thank you Charlie, I had to pass on Hickey, so that was a wise move. Your info is good but I need something that ties it all together please, if possible or otherwise I must pass him by also.

Thank you for all your digging, very much appreciated.

 Kind regards.

I should have said that Kearneys death was registered at Carrigaline, County Cork. It is a half hours drive to Ballinacurra from there.

Thanks Charlie I appreciate that, but it does not allow me to tie the death cert and him together.

Kind regards.

Tom.

Hang on, I just noticed something on the death cert, he was knows as Bernard Cogan.....the game is on again.............

D'yknow, after all the difficulty locating and establishing who he was , it was well worth it to give him a chance to be remembered.

Well done to all.

Thanks Craig, we have established(?) it is Bernard Cogan, AKA David Kearney, son of Mary Kearney.

Thanks Tom - I made the mistake of venturing away for ten mins and not refreshing the posts . I've hidden the other one to avoid confusion.
