I sent it on to Terry, but I am not optimistic, still, fingers crossed!

I would have to say that I don't think there's any attributed link on this one but...

If I have the right man he was discharged in1916. FMP has a record re his aneurism

Good spot Mark.

This is an interesting one.

Not discharged on medical grounds, rather because of termination of engagement 31/3/1916.

Sometime later, he applies for a pension (Pension Record on Ancestry):

Link

The decision of the Pension Board on 20/11/1917 was that he had a medical condition (Aortic Aneurism (sic) ) that although not caused by Military Service, it did originate during his service, and was also aggravated by it.

He was awarded  Silver War badge No.228720 on 16/8/1917, and dies almost exactly a year later from his pensionable condition.

He was awarded a pension of 19/3d a week in October 1917 for 52 weeks.

His widow and children were awarded pensions totalling 37/11d a week in October 1918.

Interesting to see what CWGC make of that.

(I wonder how a London Labourer, pensioned by the Army, came to die in Ireland?)

Graves appears to have married Sarah Mary Ann Elizabeth Bell in Poplar in 1897. She was been born in Poplar in 1879, the daughter of William John Bell, born Poplar c1879.

Herbert Sharman married Jane Bell in Roscommon in January 1902. On the 1911 census, I believe she was Jane Emma Sharman, born England, aged 26, living in Gaybrook, Westmeath. There is a birth registered for Jane Emma Bell in Poplar in 1885.

'Mornin' all, Great research!, thank you very much. I am sure you knew the reason for posting him was, as you already noticed he has no findable link to Ireland, but perhaps his sister in law. Another thing, as again you had noticed is dying from an aneurism and looking like he should qualify for iFCP.

Thank you all for your help. You went into a lot more detail that I expected, you really are the best group on this forum.

 Kindest regards.

 Tom.,
