I have a fairly complete set of the Roll of Honour pages published in the Illustrated London News 1914-1918.

If you would like me to search for a photo of an Officer killed during the Great War then please reply to this post. I need rank, name, regiment and date of death details. There's always a possibility he may have been recorded in this publication.

N.B. it may take me a few days to reply so please be patient.

Chris,

I had a look and couldn't find him.

Strange he's not on CWGC. Have you got his MIC? I wonder whether he was ever entitled to any medals?

Many thanks for looking for Captain V.W. Harrison R.F.C. We have now discovered that he was invalided out and subsequently drowned whilst dinghy sailing on a local river!

Many thanks for trying - much appreciated.

John Garlington

John,

I found a mention for him in the Lancs Fusiliers History Vol I, but no indication of M.C. award. Also looked through the Lancs Fusiliers regimental annual for 1917.

Found 2 refs to him in the London Gazette in 1918/19, no M.C. title.

can't find him. Incidentally I got a lot from the regimental museum (pictures/info) when I was researching one of his officer colleagues who was held in reserve on the 1st July. This could be an option for you?

Annie,

there won't be anything on these officers as they didn't die during the war (except Appleton). Looked for Appleton and no entry, probably not unexpected given suicide. Have you got any papers from the National Archives?

I can't see him. You could get in touch with Magdalen. The archivist has been very good in the past.
