Hi LIT,

I have a pic of:-

Hugh Alexander Broadway

Lieut

15th Coy Royal Engineers

DOW 30/03/1915 near Neuve Chapelle

Re other ranks it generally doesn't include them unless they were the holder of the VC or were some sort of sporting personality (cricketer etc.)

Steve

Hi Steve

Do you have anything on the following 2 Officers who were brothers:

Neville Harris Broadway

Lieut

2nd Lancers

KIA 1/12/1917 near Cambrai

Hugh Alexander Broadway

Lieut

15th Coy Royal Engineers

DOW 30/03/1915 near Neuve Chapelle

Could I ask also if the paper covers Other Ranks. I have 2 brothers mentioned on an Edinburgh Church memorial who lived, enlisted and served in 2 London Regiments and I just can't find the connection between where they lived and enlisted and the Church in Edinburgh. I'll only put their names on if you're happy to look them up.

Regards

LIT

Hi Steve

Many thanks for getting back to me.

I actually managed to find a photo of Lt Hugh A Broadway in a Church magazine recently. However, if you would still like to PM the photo you found then I'd be grateful.

Thanks again for your help.

Regards

Hi Steve,

I know Reginald Hugh Lawson's award of the M.C. and his mention in despatches is in the Sidcup & District times and I believe a photograph as well. Presumably his brothers obit is also in the same paper, just have not had the time as of late to get there and check the papers, my silly season at work.

Andy

Have you got the pic/obit now?

Steve, I have currently got a posting running under "Soldier" on Lieutenant Bennet Burleigh of the 7th Lancashire Fusiliers, killed Gallipoli, 15 July 1915.

When I did a "Google" on his name, it said that he was mentioned in the Illustrated London News of 25 September 1915.

When you have a moment, I wonder if you could have a look and see if Lieut Burleigh is featured.

Many thanks

Moriaty

I have 12 Thiepval Men who have their photos in the Illustrated London News I can give you the ILN issue dates if that is helpful.

I know I am taking advantage of your good nature as 12 is a lot I would however be very appreciative if you were able to send me copies of the photos.

No problem if the answer is no I will fully understand.

If you are able to meet the request you could email me through the forum and I can send you a list with dates.

Thanks again

Regards

Pam

Hello Steve

Just on the off chance, could you see if there is a photo of this chap:

CALDWELL, GAVIN RALSTON MURE

Rank: Lieutenant

Regiment/Service: Coldstream Guards

Unit Text: 2nd Bn.

Age: 21

Date of Death: 09/10/1918

Additional information: Son of the Rev. William H. McK. Caldwell and Elsie Caldwell, of Fetcham Rectory, Leatherhead, Surrey.

Stebie has found the report in the Times for me, and it would be great to find a pic. We are trying to put some biogs together.

Thanks for your time.
