I have a fairly complete set of the Roll of Honour pages published in the Illustrated London News 1914-1918.

If you would like me to search for a photo of an Officer killed during the Great War then please reply to this post. I need rank, name, regiment and date of death details. There's always a possibility he may have been recorded in this publication.

When you get a chance, could you please look up the following World War One soldier who was KIA:

Lieutenant Eric Hinckes Bird. Royal Flying Corps late Royal Fusiliers. Lieutenant Bird Died of Wounds recieved in combat on 26th June 1916.

Thanks Steve, I am keeping well and busy. I am off to Gallipoli at the end of April and was looking for a "local" soldier who I could research and follow in his footsteps. It was quite by chance that I came across Bennet Burleigh who lived very close to my house in London and so I am on a crash course trying to find out about him and his fascinating family

a quick check reveals that Lt. Herbert Martin is listed in the 7th August 1915 edition.

Unfortunately there is nothing for your other relative as he was not an officer.

Hi Steve, would have a picture of Captain David Guy Davies, MC of the King's Royal Rifle Corps and 2Lt George Alfred Chambers of the Somerset Light Infantry. Both were casualties.

Hi Paul, cousin Maddy in London, Ontario here. I just came across this posting board this afternoon. I've been trying to find out a bit more about our great grandfather other than the obvious dates etc. I went to see the grave last year in Arras which was amazing.

If anyone else is interested the family have a number of photographs of H. N. Packard and I would be happy to email images to people. I also took some images of the grave and the cemetery in Arras last summer (2006).
