I'm not in the local paper this week but they have put an article on their website.

I have had a call from a chap whose Great Great Uncle is on the memorial and will be sending me some photos through.

Not all bad then....................

Sorry, silly panto / Christmas season joke.

The sort of pointlessness that Mods try to kill.

Anyway, excellent news Anthony. I hope that this brings you another step closer. I had a really boring few hours the other day and killed it by some serious Bocking(g) hunting - Ancestry / Free BMD / CWGC wildcards etc. etc. - and found diddlysquat. Ho hum.

Oh no - a Mod trying to be funny

Anthony - I have put an enquiry on Leicestershire rootsweb concerning LB - you never know. Like my Drings they seem to be an old Bottesford family.

I have looked everywhere and duplicated Andrews work. Have you tried Panama?

This is very intriguing.

Hi Mick,

Intriguing isn't a word i'd use, bl***y annoying and incredibly frustrating are two.

I think that the 1911 census may throw some light on the mystery a little, but only a little.

We'll find him, one day, some how........................

When you do you can make a start on Lord Lucan. Should be easy by comparison.

Of course you can now (for a hefty fee) request an individual look-up - but you need to know the address, as they can't yet search by name.

Here's the account of the test case that made it possible.

Just look at the address that was requested! Spooky or what? 3.gif

Grace,

Thanks for that, that is strange. why couldn't they have tried to find Leonard? Would have made my life easier!

Have just re-emailed Bottesford Historical Society for a fresh appeal. Let's see if anything comes of this

Have received some good news from the Bottesford angle:

am asking if the village bimonthly newspaper would carry a request for info regarding Leonard Bocking, which would reach a wider spread of village people than the website does.

Just flicking, as you do, found this.

Norfolk Family History

Worth an email?

That's just great, you can't contact anyone without joining first and paying for the privilege (not being tight or anything, but just for one query)

Rubbish.....................

2 weeks on, no further news from newspapers/emails except a chap has called me and has told me where i can find the burial records for Nottinghamshire. He has suggested that i try looking through them for Mansfield and Mansfield Woodhouse firstly and if nothing then branch it out.

Notts is a fairly sizeable place, let's hope he's in Mansfield somewhere! After this, i'm stumped, AGAIN.

Just thought i would update you all so it can drive you lot as crackers as it is me!!

 Mandy!!!

Dratted missing person.....

I have sent a long, begging letter to his great grandson on Genes Reunited again asking PLEASE please if you have ANYTHING about Leonard can you let us know. I have even invited him to log on to the forum to see how desperate we all are. That was one and a half weeks ago and still no reply.... I expect i will have more chance of Leonard loggin on than the (great) grandson..... I reckon their name in a former life was Lucan......

aaaarrrrrggggghhhhhh.

I pray for a miracle.....

Susan.
