AndyHollinger Posted 23 February , 2006 Share Posted 23 February , 2006 Andy , how come our English trees are so much larger than your Texan ones ? Roland. p.s Wake up Beppo and smell the coffee.... Well, first of all, it's called water .... you have it, we don't. Second those aren't trees ... them's bushes ... Mesquite is really Mexican weed that came here during the late 18th Century ... What you're looking at is the water supply for my Grandfather's ranch ... he owned it between 1880 and 1931 when he died (Grandmother sold it so fast he wasn't in the ground yet!) ... but, to put it into perspective ... our little ranch was 8 miles on a side, square ... which is what ... about the size of an English county ... okay, the bad news ... it supported between 30 and 60 cows .... At least you can do something with it.... gives great flavor to a bbq. Cudzu... what can you do with that! okay, the bad news ... it supported between 30 and 60 cows .... This really isn't bad news (see mesquite statement above). Andy
lassuy Posted 24 February , 2006 Share Posted 24 February , 2006 USA ---Cartwright, North Dakota to be specific (population 12 and that's the way we like it!). I ranch for a living, but I've got a few more cows than Andy's spread.

I ranch for a living, but I've got a few more cows than Andy's spread. With a horse and a saddle, and a range full of cattle, How rich can a fellow be? On this land we put our brand, Cartwright is the name, Fortune smiled, the day we filed the Ponderosa claim. Here in the west, we're livin' in the best Bonanza If anyone fights any one of us, he's got a fight with me Bonanza I know that "Bonanza" wasn't set in North Dakota, and that Cartwright was the family name and not a town, but it still seems apt.
