I'm assuming this is a very well known cemetery taken from a trademark MY interesting angle though what looks like oilseed rape in bloom..... On the inscription one would this be a memorial that has been moved? The only ones I can think of immediately are the ones that are beside the Menin Road that used to be in the theme park, but then I might have that wrong too. It's clearly not Ypres from what you've said. Now I come to think of it is this somewhere around the Chemin de Dames possibly? The geology looks a bit more like it. Clueless of Crosby....... Admin Michelle Young Posted 1 November , 2022 Admin Share Posted 1 November , 2022 Yes it’s a memorial which was moved. Originally 300 yards north of where it is now. And you’re getting warmer. Oilseed rape definitely, I wrote off a pair of trousers and a shirt which might have gone another day whilst thrashing through the stuff. My red shirt was rather yellow! It’s on a well visited battlefield, and a place which is rather significant for me and Mr Y.

Fattyowls Posted 1 November , 2022 Author Share Posted 1 November , 2022 Fascinatin'. Excellent spot NF, respect is due. I've never visited that area so it's a new one on me. Thanks Michelle, all we need to do now is to track down the source of the yellow stains....... Pete.

Admin Michelle Young Posted 4 November , 2022 Admin Share Posted 4 November , 2022 Hmm, looks on quite high ground, concentrated graves going by the blocks of 10 graves. Probably special memorials to the side, and a road in the middle distance I think. Not sure if that’s a cemetery on the horizon.

Now contains French and an American burials. Photo taken from the rear of the cemetery looking east. There is a road just beyond the Cross of Sacrifice but no cemetery in front of the camera for approx.3000 metres although there is one about 800 metres behind the camera. Fattyowls Posted 5 November , 2022 Author Share Posted 5 November , 2022 Fascinating and fascinatinger. Haven't got a clue as usual; the photo reminds me of the area around Bellenglise and Bellicourt but if there is an isolated American burial I wondered why it wouldn't be in Bony nearby. As to the royal aspect I can only think of Ypres Town and Quarry by the Hohenzollern redoubt, but I've only had one cup of coffee so far...... Pete.
