My last visit was to the Ypres and Arras areas, so the Somme is priority for my next, and long overdue, trip over there.

It's Ruyaulcourt, to the east of Bapaume.  Tricky parking!

Best go on foot then !!

You know, I was so happy when that whole COVID was done, thought I could get back to the front now and then, finally go to the IWM and the National Archives but... job's taking so much time and energy... well that and the horse, although she would not mind a day off now and then... that I just don't find the time! And my boss already thinks I'm using way too much time for non-work related things ... like being there for the Boyfriend now and then or - goodness gracious, the idea.... - greet my parents at home after their three day drive from Spain.

OK... ranting now... not the issue here...

Talking about tricky parking spots ... this one was on one of our marches... DSC07912.JPG.037ed7d1781ed98bf48752e5ff7d7644.JPG

I’ve not been there for a very long time. It’s a lovely little place.

Another one for you to ponder, in addition to the two on the go already.

It is, a simply lovely cemetery. The hedge was under attack from two horses who were also breaking wind very loudly!

By way of a change, where is this? Clue: it’s the highest WW1 cemetery anywhere.

With Tom's record breaker am I right in saying we have four on the go, including three small ones possibly in the Picardy area. There is Richard and Michelle's one which used to have the cypress trees. two with interesting steps (or is that only one) and Tom's new one. Apologies for not keeping up, I am a bear of very little brain.

You know it Michelle but don't think anyone else has got it yet. Michelle's black and white photo may help.

Yes, I hiked up there a couple of years ago. Very beautiful, but hard to get to.

For me, getting to these far-flung places where the war was fought in unimaginable conditions, is immensely rewarding.
