Not changed much in the intervening 28 years, although I suspect the background has.

I guess the tree within the cemetery grew too large in those 28 years and was removed

I wondered if it isn't very far away from Ernie but I don't think that's correct. Interesting though.

Pete.

I refrained from wagering the deeds of Owls Towers on a successful outcome. My first impression is that the script is of German origin and that the stone is a limestone. The block to the left looks particularly shelly and the one with the script looks to have been worked. So in summary still no idea.

Pete.

Somewhere near Amiens?

Not really

Hmm 🤔

it seems to say C or G Sent 9/51

10 VIII 18

so I was assuming Battle Amiens related. C or G Sent doesn’t turn up anything on gooogle. As @Fattyowls says, the script looks Germanic…

… so if (BIG if) it’s the 51st Reserve Division, it might be near Braine on the Aisne in early August 1918.

Very enigmatic. I'll have to have a ponder about that......

Yes Michelle, there is.  Well done.  Let's see if the others can figure it out now you have given such a huge clue. :D

The only cemetery I can find close to "A lady" is Ablain St-Nazaire French Military Cemetery “Notre Dame de Lorette”, which being a French cemetery is clearly not the one.

Still ticking it over..🤔

Gentlemen.  If you use a little flexibilty (militarily) over the use of the word "lady", I'm sure you will get closer to the answer. :D

I refer the honourable gentleman to my previous answer.........

But thinking laterally, would the lady in question be called Deborah?

Indeed she would Mr Pete.  She resides next door, to the left.  The wreaths on the left hand edge of the picture denote the graves of some of the crew.

Indeed, 4 of them I believe. Well done Pete and Michelle. I was too thick to pick up on your clue Reg, and failed to get on the right track, (or tracks if you like.)😉
