Morning Tom

The 1899 soldier wasn't in army long enough to qualify for a pension was he? So I think it must be someone else. His wife confuses me too-seen her as Mary in one document which I cannot find now of course and not Julia for whom there doesn't appear to be a marriage record.

Still looking

Good morning George, thank you for looking for him. I really don't have any other information on him. Only his death cert, he is not listed in the Cork Newspapers either.

Thanks for all your help!

Kind regards.

 Tom.

Good morning Tom,

Can't help on this one I'm afraid.

Perhaps the Soldiers' Effects register has something?

I don't have access to it.

Having a look through the MICs on Ancestry, there are only 3 E* Looneys. One (Edward) may be the man you posted details of above, but I think not as he was dicharged in 1899 as being unlikely to become an efficient soldier.:

View Record Ernest Looney Lancashire Fusiliers 18136
View Record Epenetus T Looney Royal Field Artillery, Royal Engineers L/27272, 250017
View Record Edward Looney Prince of Wales's Leinster Regiment (Royal Canadians)

7517

Thank you Dai, the marriage cert holds the key, he was pre-war soldier.

I would not have though of the marriage cert, well done Dai!

Kind regards.

That looks exactly like him, fantastic piece of work, thank you kindly George!! I tried using the service number but could not find anything on FMP or even an MIC. I hope someone better at this that might help.

 Brilliant find, thank again George.

Kind regards.

 Tom.

Using the info on George image I reckon this is the family.

The £5 15s war gratuity indicates the man never served overseas so there would be no medal records.

Excellent we are progressing great! thanks to all concerned. His cert says he died from TB since admission, and the effects says he was discharged insane. It is all coming together.

And the only Owen Murphy who was born in 1886 was discharged in 1919 so its not him either.
