ss002d6252 Posted 29 April , 2019 Share Posted 29 April , 2019 I've found a Pension Card for #341549 W F R O'Callaghan, Electrical Artificer (Died 18 Nov 17). https://www.westernfrontassociation.com:2061/image/645810867 Mother, Margaret, received an article 21 dependants pension but unfortunately the illness is not mentioned nor whether he had been discharged by death. horatio2 Posted 29 April , 2019 Share Posted 29 April , 2019 I can only find a hit in the RN Medal Roll for William FR O'CALLAGHAN, Electrical Artificer 3rd Class, qualified for a WW1 trio (claimed by his mother) and on the Admiralty Index Casualty for 1917. Official No. 341519 on the roll is correct for an artificer but does not match the name in ADM 188.
ss002d6252 Posted 29 April , 2019 Share Posted 29 April , 2019 And, John OCallgahn https://www.westernfrontassociation.com:2061/image/645816187 SR/3228 RGA. Same mother's name as for William but not sure if it is the same person. Craig

museumtom Posted 29 April , 2019 Author Share Posted 29 April , 2019 (edited) Brilliant piece of searching Craig, he is not on FMP, even using the number you give. Does the docs in ancestry have the important medical sheet please? The one that says caused by or aggravated by? Thanks again for finding this lad. Kind regards. Tom. The snippet is from his pension sheet giving the medical discharge reason (the second link is to that specific page). As he was discharged with TB the army assumption is that it was automatically caused or aggravated by service (as per the info I posted a few days go). Same page though (less argument if it's specifically written !) Craig Edited 29 April , 2019 by ss002d6252
George Rayner Posted 29 April , 2019 Share Posted 29 April , 2019 Yes it says that it wasnt caused by ordinary military service but WAS aggravated by it. Interesting that he changed from being a Clerk to a tailor! George

museumtom Posted 29 April , 2019 Author Share Posted 29 April , 2019 Yes indeed, and you even have FMP for me, fantastic. I have to admit I was doubtful he would be found at all. Another successful find, thank you all very much indeed. It says exactly what we needed aggravated by service, that's all that is need. Thanks again Craig and George, top marks! Kind regards. Tom.
