Callaghan is an interesting person. An army pensioner who at 46 signed back on in 1914 and found to be medically unfit for further service in 1915...but no attribution I'm afraid on Ancestry

George

Nothing on Ancestry for Callaghan-but re-signed at 46 as an Army Pensioner and found unfit for further service in 1915

That's how I read it George. and 18 year old pensioner?

Being from this area he was more than likely with the Connaughts.

Thank you for these George. It is hard to say if it is him. It's is possible the age is wrong, but all we have is his name and he died in the workhouse, no next of kin. I looked at the ledgers in the Army Museum and he is not listed there.

There is so little to go on here, and I do not expect to find him. If I search for William Daly, death registered in Boyle it will not give me a result. I came across him by chance. He is a real oddity.

Kind regards.

 Tom.

I agree. I can usually turn up a death notice or some such but there really is nothing at all-even the 1900(?) birth date doesn't give anybody even vaguely close.

Come back in a few months with him and we may have more luck.

Your Patrick character Tom. I thought his family name was Fahy but I'm not convinced looking at letter shapes in rest of DC.

What are your thoughts?

Not a squeak that I can find yet Tom. Thought I had a death notice for him then saw it was 12/1918 and couldn't follow any further. Still on the case...
