George Rayner Posted 17 April , 2020 Share Posted 17 April , 2020 Callaghan is an interesting person. An army pensioner who at 46 signed back on in 1914 and found to be medically unfit for further service in 1915...but no attribution I'm afraid on Ancestry George Nothing on Ancestry for Callaghan-but re-signed at 46 as an Army Pensioner and found unfit for further service in 1915 George

museumtom Posted 17 April , 2020 Author Share Posted 17 April , 2020 Thank you for these George. It is hard to say if it is him. It's is possible the age is wrong, but all we have is his name and he died in the workhouse, no next of kin. I looked at the ledgers in the Army Museum and he is not listed there. There is so little to go on here, and I do not expect to find him. If I search for William Daly, death registered in Boyle it will not give me a result. I came across him by chance. He is a real oddity. Kind regards. Tom.
George Rayner Posted 17 April , 2020 Share Posted 17 April , 2020 I agree. I can usually turn up a death notice or some such but there really is nothing at all-even the 1900(?) birth date doesn't give anybody even vaguely close. Come back in a few months with him and we may have more luck. George
