The 9th Flotilla was a patrol flotilla tasked with anti-submarine and counter mining patrols in the Firth of Forth area. By September 1914, she was deployed to the Dover Patrol based at Portsmouth. Here she provided anti-submarine, counter mining patrols and defended the Dover Barrage (Wikipedia) SS Eden was a cargo ship sunk by Worthing pier. Built in 1897 as a steamship 1.446 tons. Dimensions: 246x34.2x17.2 feet. Powered by a compound inverted engine. Single screw. Has one deck with a raised quarter deck 97 feet aft. Forecastle 32 feet and four bulkheads. On route from Tyne to Rouen carrying coal. Torpedoed by a German submarine 10 miles off Worthing.
