Is Brian ok? Jim Yesterday I finished my project of writing down the names of the RE wounded from the Times OCLs for the whole of 1916 (just in time for the golf season). So far I have checked the July to December 1916 names on FMP which has produced the lists that I have posted. I will check January to June over the summer which I hope will produce more lists. When the clocks go back in October I will do the same Times OCL exercise for 1917. My grandfather was wounded in 1916 but not discharged until 20/08/1917. My spreadsheet grows on a daily basis. The system I use is to identify the RE wounded from the Times OCLs and then check the service numbers on Ancestry to make sure that I get the correct details, some of the lists are difficult to read. I then search FMP with the correct service number and Royal Engineers in the Keywords box. Where the results show surnames and initials only under British Army Service Records it will be one of these floating documents, which include these casualty lists. You will need to identify the wounded Royal Irish Fusiliers from the Times and then search FMP with the service number and Royal Irish Fusiliers in the keywords box. You may be able to search just by putting Royal Irish Fusiliers into the regiment box. Brian

KGB, as you are doubtless aware, The Genealogist site have digitised the Times Casualty Lists although I have found they have missed some, let alone found errors in the Times data itself. A quick search for "1916" for "Irish Fusiliers" comes up with 2399 wounded records, 778 killed,379 missing and 32 PoWs, just to give you an idea of what they have. There will be some double reporting eg wounded then died of wounds or missing then dead. I can suggest a way to extract this data to a spreadsheet if it helps you. My way is a bit slow with several steps in sorting but avoids me laboriously transcribing with all the risks of further transcription errors. And it is a good starting point as it can throw up unexpected items or give leads to search for pages not transcribed. Charlie
charlie962 Posted 2 April , 2017 Share Posted 2 April , 2017 Further to my post, please note that most entries are not marked with battalion so the above results are for all battalions. If I put in 5th it finds 53 wounded records. Here is an idea of what it shows: any help? Charlie

Also, is it possible that if his wound was not serious he would not be on any lists? I still dnt know where exactly he served or where he was wounded. Thank you Alison, his wounding was official! Casualty list 6thSept1917, so actual wounding perhaps a month earlier, as you thought, August. Edited 2 April , 2017 by charlie962

Alison On Friday I will check the Times for September 1917 and get the full RE wounded list that T Lloyd is in. I found that by researching the names on the same Times list as my gf, 11/10/1916, I found a few clues from various service and pension records. A good number were 20 Div RE men. The date on my gf's Field Service Post Card home to report that he was wounded was 05/09/1916. These men from the same 11/10/1916 OCL appear on casualty list H A 2336 in post 521: 47161 Spr Phillips C of 83 FC (20 Div) was admitted to 11 Sty Hosp Rouen on 05/09/1916, 44831 2/Cpl Croally T of 84 FC (20 Div) was sent to England from 11 Sty Hosp on 05/09/1916 as was another man on the same list 40527 Spr Stevens 104 FC (24 Div) . Spr Croally has a service record which shows that he was wounded on 03/09/1916 and sent to 22 FA and on 05/09/1916 to England. This is why I think that my gf was probably wounded at Guillemont with 20 Div RE on 03/09/1916. You might try the same exercise. EDIT Just realised that I checked the Times earlier this year for you (post 715) and found that wounded were not named from July 1917. Perhaps Charlie 962 can supply you with the full list. Alisonmallen62 Posted 7 April , 2017 Share Posted 7 April , 2017 Hello thank you for all advice and help. If that list was to be checked I would very much appreciate it. Apologies for only just responding but have unwell husband, daughter, granddaughter and mum so not had a mo. How do you find the lists? Do you go to a library, online etc? I am trying via ancestry to look at RE numbers around 121966 but not too much found out at the mo. In fact I think only once on your lists has someone with 121 come up

charlie962 Posted 8 April , 2017 Share Posted 8 April , 2017 Barnard and Clare both appear on the Wounded Daily List 6/9/17. I think their injury date will be at least a week earlier than the transfer date on the sheet below (having looked at a sample the wounding dates seem to be between 27/7 and 3/8/17)
