Lincspoacher Posted 16 November , 2016 Share Posted 16 November , 2016 No problem Tullybrone I was pleased to help bring your ancestor's exploits back to being thought about again and that he did so much while he was still a young volunteer. Jim Strawbridge Posted 18 November , 2016 Share Posted 18 November , 2016 (edited) I would have thought that Private Denny would have noticed (post #658) long before he became a soldier. Should this problem not have been picked up at the initial medical examination showing fitness to serve? Cupped hands and a cough comes to mind. brianmorris547 Posted 18 November , 2016 Share Posted 18 November , 2016 List H B 667 dated 13/07/1916. 99616 Spr Smith A E appears in the Times OCL 28/07/1916 under RE wounded. He is also named on another one of these FMP lists that is too faint to post and which I am trying to transcribe. This other list confirms that his Unit was 226 FC and the nature of his wounds as GSW head and shoulder admitted 13 Gen H Boulogne (no date but possibly 11/07/1916). Donald D Posted 19 November , 2016 Share Posted 19 November , 2016 Another casualty list this time from the Labour Corps. I came across it when looking for both my Grandads service details (or lack of). The chap I clicked on had nothing but this, so presumably another piece of mistranscription. brianmorris547 Posted 22 November , 2016 Share Posted 22 November , 2016 (edited) I am still searching for these RE casualty lists using the RE wounded in the Times OCLs and FMP but the ones I am turning up are usually ones that I have already posted. I tried an experiment with some of the lists that were found in the Silver War Badge Rolls of the Hamilton (Infantry) Office. SteveE posted some on posts 42, 48, 65 and 78 which he found in WO 329/3035. Diane posted some on behalf of hmsk212 on post 306 which are in WO 329/3032. She also posted some for me last year that I found in WO 329/3034 in post 457. The list I attach below H 5093 dated 17/01/1916 is also from WO 329/3035 but I cannot find it in SteveE's posts. I checked all of the service numbers on this list on FMP with Royal Engineers in the Keywords box. Not one of them brought up this list. None of the names I checked on the lists in 3032 and 3034 also had a hit. It seems that FMP have done a great job in indexing these lists that are found in Service and Pension Records but have not indexed these in the Rolls. This gives me renewed hope that I may yet find my grandfather and the Rolls are easy to inspect using the filmstrip. I did the RGA, Infantry (Cork) and Infantry (Dublin) SWB rolls in less than one hour. I will carry on with my Times OCL project and also examine these Medal Rolls for more unindexed ones. Alisonmallen62 Posted 28 November , 2016 Share Posted 28 November , 2016 I am still hoping that your efforts to find your grandfather just might locate 121966 Sapper Tom Lloyd! It possibly would determine which company he was in. He (possibly) is in the book Beneath Flanders Fields by P Barton but it doesn't state his unit under the quotation. brianmorris547 Posted 28 November , 2016 Share Posted 28 November , 2016 Alison Any lists that I find in the Medal Rolls I will post on here and identify where I found them. I will also check the service numbers on FMP to see if the list has been indexed or not and report that too. I am keeping my eyes open for your man. brianmorris547 Posted 6 December , 2016 Share Posted 6 December , 2016 I found these two lists HA 23030 and HA 23034 dated May 1918 in the SWB Rolls of the Warley Infantry Records Office (WO 329/3109). They have not been indexed by FMP. One of the men, 23313 L/Cpl Parrish appears on a 1917 list that has been indexed. I will post it next.
