Also, is it possible that if his wound was not serious he would not be on any lists? I still dnt know where exactly he served or where he was wounded. The attached thread will clarify. Although I am homing in on 1916 France and Flanders RE wounded lists I post any others that turn up, as in this list HA 16632 for November 1917. Like me your best hope is to find your man on a faint or obscured one that FMP can not index properly. I use the Times archive accessible through the local library. Some days have the edge of the page disappearing into the binding. Some have a crease rendering names illegible. Some are just poor quality of definition. The majority are fine. My particular interest is for Mesopotamia 1916, so outside of yours but I am sure you've had to tackle this problem. I understand that theScotsman and The Irish Times carried daily lists but were they just for their soldiers or did they publish the full lists? And if the have the info, how can one get access to these? So it will only be for a few issues that I need to look for an alternative. Thanks, Charlie Charlie I have transcribed the RE wounded for July to December 1916 from the Times OCL which should cover all the wounded for the battles of the Somme and I am now in the process of doing the same for January to June 1916 (Do I hear a collective groan). I am experiencing the same problems but you are given four clues i.e. name, number, initial and rank and by using Ancestry I can normally get the correct details. I notice that from January 1916 there are separate lists for each theatre and members of the RE TF are listed by Unit. This was not so in the lists from July to December. I am happy to look up anything for you but I only use the Times through my local library, I do not know anything about the others.
