brianmorris547 Posted 23 September , 2016 Share Posted 23 September , 2016 83213 John W Sutcliffe was an original County Palatine RE recruit who arrived in France on 09/11/1915 with 30 Div RE. (I wish I could find 83123, my gf). There is another FMP document for John Sutcliffe to show that on 07/11/1917 he joined 100 FC RE as a reinforcement from England via GBD. brianmorris547 Posted 26 September , 2016 Share Posted 26 September , 2016 Diane List H 5906 for RE admissions into 16 GH LE Treport 08/02/1916, apart from the last name who was admitted to the Lahore ISH Marseilles on the same day. Another faint copy but I have found all the names on MICs/SMARs (apart from 2412 Spr Maddison J) and will send you the list by e mail. brianmorris547 Posted 11 October , 2016 Share Posted 11 October , 2016 List H D 999 from the Persian Gulf. 83561 Pnr Barrock (correct name George E Badrock) enlisted into the County Palatine RE (30 Div) but has no 1914-15 Star. He would have been one of the reserve details left behind at Larkhill when 30 Div RE embarked for France in November 1915. Most of the reserve details found their way to 4 GBD at Rouen and from there to various Units but some went East.

brianmorris547 Posted 15 October , 2016 Share Posted 15 October , 2016 (edited) List H 5983 dated 16/02/1916. The three Sappers from 77 FC, Turner W, Smith H and Pymm H are named in the WD of 77 FC (17 Div) as three of eleven wounded on 15/02/1916. The GOC 17 Div put on record his appreciation of the gallantry showed by 77 FC on the nights of 14/15 and 15/16 Feb 1916. The WD of the CRE shows that the Company was employed consolidating recaptured trenches near Reninghelst. (The WD of 77 FC for January 1916 also records the serial numbers of horses sent to the Vet). Spr Turner later appears in the Times OCL 18/07/1916 under RE wounded. Edited 15 October , 2016 by brianmorris547 additional information
brianmorris547 Posted 19 October , 2016 Share Posted 19 October , 2016 List H A 4161 dated 11/11/1916. 128116 Pnr Carter J is named in the Times OCL 20/07/1916 under RE wounded but his inclusion on this list appears to be unrelated. Perhaps Terry can tell us if the last name on the list 192566 Rnr Richard Hearne of the Special Brigade is related to Richard Hearne (Mr Pastry), who was born in 1908 and whose father was called Richard. Di Some of the names and numbers are not correct. I will e mail you with correct details.

brianmorris547 Posted 23 October , 2016 Share Posted 23 October , 2016 99823 Albert E Simpson is another County Palatine RE recruit who has no 1914-15 Star. O/R casualties are not named in the WD of 205 FC (35 Div) but from July 1916 to January 1917 the casualties of 203, 204 and 205 FCs are named in the WD of the CRE 35 Div. (The FC WDs can be found on Ancestry by putting the ref 2476(3) into the keywords box and leaving everything else blank. They are under Various Divisional Troops. brianmorris547 Posted 24 October , 2016 Share Posted 24 October , 2016 In addition to searching FMP with the 1916 RE wounded from the Times OCLs in order to tease out these lists I am also searching FMP using the numbers of the County Palatine REs (30 Div). List H B 718 dated 15/07/1916 shows the final one: 99826 William Moorcroft has no 1914-15 Star. This list shows that he found his way to 126 FC (21 Div). O/R casualties are named in the WD of 126 FC up to 12/07/1916 but I could not see him named. The Company was in action in Mametz Wood and Bazentin Le Petit Wood between 12 and 14/07/1916 and sustained a total of 31 wounded. I did not think that if he was one of the 31 wounded he could have got to hospital in Chatham by the 15th but the Service Record of his 126 FC comrade on this list 65339 Benjamin Francis Brewer shows that he (Benjamin) sustained a shrapnel wound in the back on 13/07/2016 and was transferred to Newark TC on 15/07/1916. brianmorris547 Posted 27 October , 2016 Share Posted 27 October , 2016 List H A 492 dated 02/07/1916. The last RE name on the list 56663 Sgt G E Gray appears in the Times OCL 24/07/1916 under RE wounded. His service record, George Edward Gray 56663, shows that he was a Telegraphist by trade and on 02/12/1914 was promoted to Sergeant and posted to 16 Div Sigs Co. The record confirms that he sustained a GSW to the right knee but does not say when. The WD for 16 Div Sigs Co (WO 95/1966(1) ) does not name him. He died in 1931.
