Thanks Bert.f

I love the extra touch of the “ Name/title” to the units,    Von Rauch (Brandenburgisches)

Where do you find that?? I see lot of references to wiki.de but no understand German. Is there a web site that I could look up units to find their titles to match them?

I looked through my photo library, the pic here of my standard M.71’s show no numbers on bottom of nose cap, many pics showing side views, ( no worry, will not show them all here). So I think AndyBsk is Correct in that the nose cap Sn.#’s must be in front/ face

The M71/84’s ( nose caps) all are serialed with 2 digit numbers on left side, just above the screw/washer

The Kar.71 nose cap’s are serialed on bottom

from my collection

That's a great set of rifles there Steve! When are you going to open the museum???!!!

The genwikki site AndyB mentioned is at: https://genwiki.genealogy.net/Infanterie_(WK1) In German, yes, but you will get the full titles there.

What a beauty! Those blades are really functional, aren't they?

Yes i proofed to saw some wood with the PFM71 and it worked fine on soft wood, even the thickness of sawed material is brighter as by thin plate handsaw, it goes by very good sharpened teeths very nice in to wood as the blade is heavy, here the blade looks untouched and pointy teeths.

What we in the States call a “ Closet Queen!”.

An item that has been stored away most of it’s time. In this case, it could have been stored away by German reserve when replaced, then sold off where it could have been kept by collectors for close to a century

Yes Andy, you have two of these S.71PFM’s, I bet you had fun trying your hand at sawing those branches, Taking that big blade out to have fun, Did it make you feel like a kid again?😊

Yes, even the blade is too heavy for a child, but the 91 piece has a little damaged sawback teeths, the ends are not so sharp as on Your closet Queen, as most real it was cleaned by previous owner so the blade is little blured on edges.

Bayonet #65.
2/21/22

S.71PFM

Spine Crown/W/91.   Small crown and a letter
Maker.        P.D.Luneschloss   Solingen.
Unit.            E.B.13.132.
I would think 13th Ersatz Battalion waffe 132, but no Regiment or Army Corps? A little lost on this one

Good aging on the whole. Blade and guard not too bright, but still nice. Pommel with two Fakturs, tang with an unidentifiable stamp. Saw teeth are exelent, unused. Sorry, no scabbard

I found this book awhile back. As I have told before. The S71 did find it’s way to France, not in FRONT LINE use but usually as a side arm, mostly with the artillery units, but there were acceptions ( as side arms).
The two soldiers up front with crossed bayonets are S.71 type. The one with the broad scabbard is a S.71PFM

By the unit should be searched the possibility of Eisenbahn (Railway)Bau or Brigade Battalions -13.company or as You mentioned Ersatz Battalion nr.13 and weapon nr, question remains what was the previous unit as there is flatened the crossguard side and some remains of older unit is visible. Second question remains it could be a war unit so not full unit stamped.

Yes the Betriebs is other variation. They existed too Eisenbahn Bau-Kompanien."Am 29. August 1914 waren die Wiederherstellungsarbeiten bis Virton durchgeführt. Die anschließende Strecke über Ecouviez bis Montmédy stellte die Reserve-Eisenbahn-Bau-Kompanie 13 wieder her."
