I think you might find one in the Mt Beautiful Pet thread in Skindles Marilyne.

on duty outside,  where she liked to be. then after a day on 'the Somme., we  had to leave the settee in France , she misses her favourite resting place.

finally her first crucuiate op, she has had the second done around 8 weeks ago. Both done this year, hopefully we can get back over depending on the paperwork involved.

I think the view of Hawthorn Ridge no1 in the background gives it away!

I have not been there for many years but is it Auchonvillers Communal Cemetery?

Richard

Yes, thought the red headstones would give it away!

Is there any CWGC cemetery that you don't know ?

I think we all know the answer to that question.

As usual it's one I haven't visited but I might well one day as one of mine was killed in St Laurent-Blagny and I would really like to have a wander around on foot. When you say right now Sly does that mean you took the photo today (14/12/2021 - am)? If so I'm impressed - HAGAPO goes real time...

Pete.

P.S. Joyeux Noel Sly. Thanks for all the interesting photos.

Pete,

I did take the photo this morning,  i went for a run along the Scarpe . I have spotted a bunker nearby and i am sure there are more things to be found.

How about this one? Not one that I took I hasten to add, and not on the Western Front, but I thought the regulars on the thread might like to see it, as I found it quite atmospheric. 20211214_124215.jpg.f7379dfa3531c74b002687b74d387ed7.jpg

Where is this? I took a purler walking  down to it, I was black and blue for a few days! Mr Young had gallantly scraped me off the track.

Hi all,

Sorry for being absent now and then... when the EU takes over your agenda...

@Michelle Young, is that in the Vosges???

@neverforget, I was going to say the same for yours, but as you said "not the Western front" ...

Hi Marilyne. Mine is in Poland. It is called Lidzbark Warminski CWGC cemetery. It provides an intimate setting where 39 Commonwealth service personnel who died in captivity during the First World War are commemorated. They came from various regiments.

And not just one big 'ole. I'd never checked but Peckham is closer to the cemetery than Spanbroekmolen crater, 230ish meters to 400. Every day is a skool day.

Pete.
