A photo taken in October 1987, a real Great War relic. Where is it/was it, not been back  for 36 years...

No it it is not those. However a search on 'Instant street view' shows that these walls and other shell damaged ones are still as they were 36 years ago, which I am pleased about.

Bob, have just spent ages going through boxes of old photos to remind me where this is. My indexing not very good. No luck.

I know it is on the way to Cambrai.

Maybe not, but surely there must be one for a 99th minute equalizer.

I hope your staff officer colleagues don't read this forum, and aren't you on the staff now? And as for the clue in three days you can cover several hundred km so it doesn't narrow it down much. All we can glean from that is that it's somewhere near the Yser, or have you been on a different three day trek?

Pete.

P.S. A waffle outlet has opened up within walking distance of Owls Towers but it is shut on a Monday.

I was listening on the radio, cue absolute bedlam in the kitchen. I actually wrote something a few years back about a similar occurence called 'Van den Hauwe - One Last Throw of the Dice' which Saturday reminded me of. Hope your recovery is continuing matey.

I was really pleased for you Pete. Yes I'm getting there slowly thanks but I'm beginning to realise it's a bit of a long haul.

Yes you are quite right, on the way to Cambrai, it would not be easy just to bump into them.

BTW that Michelle is wrong again......

Bob I have had another look through and cannot find the old pic. Bit frustrating.

Looks like nobody knows.

So, come on then....

This Pete hasn't a clue either re incomplete chateau walls. I have been looking for wisteria festooned cemetery entrances and wondered if the CWGC site might have a helpful warning for hay fever sufferers but to no avail. It looks like a large cemetery and something about the proximity of the woods in the distance reminds me of Guillemont Road but while I do remember some conical conifers I don't remember wisteria. Back to the drawing board.

Have you found lots of interesting photographs and fascinating digressions while not finding the one that you want? That tends to happen to me.

Pete.
