Confused…I will be😁😁
Steves is the monument which I’m sure had conifers in each corner the first time I saw it, since the turn of the century I think they have been replaced, maybe someone can confirm my suspicions or I’m going to have to dig out the old photos😬

You are correct that there were conifers in each corner of the 50th Northumberland Div Memorial at one time.

Ok, so I think we have two of Michelle's and one from me left to identify.

Richard

So, your two photos are of the same place then?

It's ok I have just retraced the last couple of pages and see that Michelle solved your second photo.

Hi Richard

Is this your old photograph of Wytschaete Military Cemetery just outside of Ypres (I copied and pasted your image copyright acknowledgment)

We gathered that😂😂

After several attempts since before the festive season with your steps and whilst on my sickbed 🤮and including  today with your Cemetery , I’m none the wiser, pretty please is there a clue?

There is a memorial to the missing very close to the steps.
There might be five ways to find an answer for the other one….

Hi Michelle

Safe journey I hope?

Are the steps at Louveral Military Cemetery, next to the Cambrai Memorial? Not confident on this😁

No, a few miles away. Yes, we got to France in the end, a nice day, very chilly wind but dry and sunny. No guess where, photos show Le Grand Hasard, la Kreule and Ebblinghem cemeteries.

Anyone up for a challenge of a slightly different sort - I would love to have some modern colour stereoviews of the cemeteries and wondered if people wanted to have a go?

All yo need to do is to stand as if you are about to take the photo, then transfer your weight to your left leg, take the photo then transfer your weight to the right foot and take a second photo, you should find the camera moving about 6 inches horizontally (for the purists it's bit too much but will still give great images). Much easier done than explained, just avoid any moving objects.

I will then process the images and post the stereoviews.

At the request of @Knotty reposting this one. I previously said there’s a memorial to the missing very close by. The memorial commemorates 10 men.  The cemetery has 790 known burials. It’s not on the Somme, or Salient.

Congrats @neverforget, this one had me totally beaten, the CWCG site doesn’t help when it comes to burials as they include unknowns 😡, I have been round the houses with this one.

Well done on that tricky photo Michelle, 3 months to identify is that a record?

Beginner's luck John, (and Michelle.)😊

No doubt you will make very short work of this one..20230326_135518.jpg.a7836f40d60e99f73e761370d14a0311.jpg

Assuming that’s WW2 damage to the base?

I guess so. The Tower of Pisa impression is down to the monument itself, and not my photography.

Ironically.
