museumtom Posted 20 December , 2016 Author Share Posted 20 December , 2016 It think Grifiths valuations is too early for us Simon. The problem is, we don't have his first name or unit and we suspect that his name may be a typo. Kind regards and thank you Simon. Cheers. Tom. Effects register shows monies paid to his father John. The war gratuity would indicate he was a regular enlistment. Craig

What is odd that SDGW says he was previously #10510 Connaught Rangers. #10519 was allocated Sep 1912. He must have transferred regiments in Aug 14 which is relatively unusual for that early in the war. Craig

museumtom Posted 23 December , 2016 Author Share Posted 23 December , 2016 Well lads and lassies, I think ye got them all, and I am in the enviable position of having all my 'unfindables' addressed, thank ye most kindly. Its been a spectacular journey and a most enjoyable experience. I had a look in my files and can say with all authority that, as and from this moment, there are no questionable casualties in there. I threw ye a few curve balls, alias's, incorrect dates and units and none of them flustered ye in the slightest. There were a lot of times I sat looking at the screen smiling at some obscure gem had been plucked from God know's where that helped to nail a man down. There is without doubt, not a team like ye in the genealogical sciences. I doubt if there is anyone you cannot find, and that's even with the absolute least information. Well done indeed. It was not possible without every single one of you, and again I am forever in your debt. If ye need any information that I can help with please do not hesitate to let me know. Kindest regards and Merry Christmas to each and everyone. Tom.

museumtom Posted 24 December , 2016 Author Share Posted 24 December , 2016 Good man Craig. There is a photo of him in the newspaper that says his wife would appreciate news of him. It also says that he fought at Mons and at the Dardanelles. Does that help at all? Kind regards. Tom.
Dai Bach y Sowldiwr Posted 24 December , 2016 Share Posted 24 December , 2016 As wandererpaul says, there's no entry for that name (in any combination). Is there any possibility the marriage was in Ireland?
