I claim the address was wrong and put me off!! George You snooze... Kearns was a bit of a pain on ANcestry as the ssurname has a full stop at the end of the name - means it doesn't show in the search by surname (I've put through a correction but how many more are there ?) . George Rayner Posted 10 June , 2020 Share Posted 10 June , 2020 I have found on other databases that some entries have a space either start or end of word which doesn't help either. George

Using Folder3 that gives the beginning of the pension three days after his death and his wifes first name Alice we get this. What is needed is some record that ties it all together. Mark1959 Posted 10 June , 2020 Share Posted 10 June , 2020 (edited) https://www.fold3.com/image/669267044?xid=1022 Gives DoD as 25/6/21. Right cause of death. Right widow. Right address. 7086. https://www.fold3.com/image/645055677?xid=1022 This card shows discharged 16/4/1919. Attributable Malaria and ??? Caries. Maybe Potts caries or TB of spine. This matches the other card that says died from tuber of spine and asthma.. So may have a chance. Edited 10 June , 2020 by Mark1959

Mark1959 Posted 14 June , 2020 Share Posted 14 June , 2020 (edited) McCormack His medal card has the 24 Railway Street address on the reverse. BW & VM applied for in 1923. Medal roll says discharged 30/9//19. To France 14/8/14. FWR has a few transcribed records 43157 24/4/18 - War Office List - wounded - R Inn Fus. NoK address - Cork 43157 7/8 R InnFus B Company, 21/10/18 - 31 Ambulance train Remy to Terlincthun. Syphilis. 10608 25/11/14 - War Office wounded list, Connaughts The 21/10/18 Med record is here on FMP There is also this on FMP - rather confusing as has CR number and 7/8 RInnFus as unit Edited 14 June , 2020 by Mark1959

museumtom Posted 18 June , 2020 Author Share Posted 18 June , 2020 Myself and George have been flummoxed with this apparently obvious listing of a man under two versions of his name. The DOD is the same, death location the same, slight difference in the age but is it the same man? Two listings for burial. Perhaps this is he, or is there another? https://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casualty/900498/shaw,-william-james/
Mark1959 Posted 24 June , 2020 Share Posted 24 June , 2020 Has a good look. It is the same man for the 2 certificates in my opinion.

Dai Bach y Sowldiwr Posted 25 June , 2020 Share Posted 25 June , 2020 Good afternoon Tom. It sure looks like the same man, possibly reported to the coroner twice, although you can't tell. I first thought it might have been the 'Weekend Effect' , with someone reporting again on a Monday what had already been unknowingly done on the Friday. The paper says the man died 'last Friday night'. I'm sure you well remember Tom, that October 27th 1914 was a Tuesday, and the 29th a Thursday... Died at 67 Lower Leeson Street, which seemd to have been a hospital of a lodging form nurses and medical types. If he lived at the Deanery perhaps he has a connection with the Church? IPT Posted 29 June , 2020 Share Posted 29 June , 2020 (edited) Thomas Brownell Gibson was the dean of Ferns at the time, although he apparently had three daughters - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Gibson_(priest) 1911 census - http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Wexford/Ferns/Ferns__Upper/678044/ 1901 census - http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Wexford/Ferns/Ferns_Upper/1789020/ Edited 29 June , 2020 by IPT
museumtom Posted 30 June , 2020 Author Share Posted 30 June , 2020 (edited) Thank you Margaret and IPT. The marriage cert was a nice find but he died in 1916. The Dean could be his cousin though. IPT the Census looks really good. I will see if I can find his birth cert and that might answer a few questions. Thanks you both, I am very thankful for your help. I just found his birth cert so we are on the right track. Kind regards. Tom. Edited 30 June , 2020 by museumtom
