Mark1959 Posted 19 May , 2020 Share Posted 19 May , 2020 So by definition "Joseph" 3896 is Michael's older brother. Did Ellen marry Jeremiah and then Joseph.. So is Jeremiah then finally calling himself Joseph after using John. Frankly the paucity of records for the purpose of this thread makes it all a bit of a side-line. 3896 may have been Jeremiah,Joseph or John and did die on the date of the original death certificate posted. The truth about mother Ellen and wife or wives Agnes is somewhere in there. On the basis 3896 does not have "attributable" scribbled down anywhere I think we should move on. Or instead disappear up our own....

He does not have an obit in the papers either. I do not know what to file him under Navy or Merchant Marine. Anyway nighty night guys and gals. Sleep well. Until the morning. Kind regards. Tom. Mark1959 Posted 24 May , 2020 Share Posted 24 May , 2020 No luck identifying him from census records in the Isle of Man. Several possibles. There is this Arthur Taggart working as an agricultural labourer in Co. Kerry in 1911 but born in the IoM. Age is about right http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Kerry/Tubrid/Rathkenny/277934 But no evidentary link to the Fireman on the Elizabetta that we are looking for. IPT Posted 24 May , 2020 Share Posted 24 May , 2020 I think the ship may be Elizabetta. On her 1915 crew list, there was Arthur Taggart, aged 25, fireman, born Isle of Man.
