So by definition "Joseph" 3896 is Michael's older brother. Did Ellen marry Jeremiah and then Joseph.. So is Jeremiah then finally calling himself Joseph after using John. Frankly the paucity of records for the purpose of this thread makes it all a bit of a side-line. 3896 may have been Jeremiah,Joseph or John and did die on the date of the original death certificate posted. The truth about mother Ellen and wife or wives Agnes is somewhere in there. On the basis 3896 does not have "attributable" scribbled down anywhere I think we should move on. Or instead disappear up our own....

Just checking

Frederick J Powell

b 1868 (ish)

d 22/01/1917

His Majesty's Trawler Foilmore (??)

Engineer

And he was ill two days so presumably the Trawler was in harbour nearby.

I can't find an HMT Foilmore. Is it a different name?

Night

Beats me George, I do not know the name of the ship other than Foilmore. I did try to nail it down, but was unsuccessful. He does not have an obit in the papers either. I do not know what to file him under Navy or Merchant Marine.

Anyway nighty night guys and gals. Sleep well.

Until the morning.

 Kind regards.

 Tom.

Well done Mark. Great work.

He does appear to be a little elusive!

No luck identifying him from census records in the Isle of Man. Several possibles.

There is this Arthur Taggart working as an agricultural labourer in Co. Kerry in 1911 but born in the IoM. Age is about right

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Kerry/Tubrid/Rathkenny/277934

But no evidentary link to the Fireman on the Elizabetta that we are looking for.

Taken a bit of a rest today from my work for the WFA on the Pension cards. So if you have anyone for us to search for today is a good day.

This man was 33 on the 1911 census, an engineer for a taxi company.

I think the ship may be Elizabetta. On her 1915 crew list, there was Arthur Taggart, aged 25, fireman, born Isle of Man.

No luck with John Murphy so far. Common name so need a record with the address on.

Thank you IPT, much appreciated. His address is given as Macduff, Scotland on his burial cert.
