brianmorris547 Posted 5 September , 2022 Share Posted 5 September , 2022 I have been going through the Times OCLs 1915 for the East Lancs RFA in Gallipoli. At the same time I am looking out for a list that reflects the 46 wounded of 1 Bn Seaforth Highlanders (7 Indian Div) on 20/12/1914. I have found a list in the Times 24/02/1915 which deals with the k in a but not the wounded. I am going through the Supplementary Lists that appear from August 1915 onwards. These lists are for the Spring Campaign and have not previously been published. I am making a schedule of these supplemantary lists which I will post on the GWF at a later date. In the Times 18/09/1915 there is a list from April and May with 11 wounded Seaforths of 1 Bn and over 100 wounded from 2 Bn. One of the 1 Bn wounded is Cherrie, 7743 B and he is named on this List 20952 cont. Another name from 1 Seaforths on 20952 is McKenzie, D 1277. He has a hospital admission MH 106/1079 adm 18 GH 11/05/1915 and to Hospital Ship at Boulogne 13/05/1915. The book records that he was wounded at Richbourg on 09/05/1915. The WD confirms that the Bn was involved in the Battle of Aubers on 09/05.

David26 Posted 7 September , 2022 Share Posted 7 September , 2022 Thanks as ever Dave. It's so nice to have all of these lists showing this stage of the evacuation chain. I don't know if you want to check a couple of the lists? When I was transcribing them just now, I noticed that the final one you posted yesterday (H.B.5916) looks as if it may only have a single letter prefix. Initially I thought it was a 'B' but that didn't make sense since it is not for the Balkans, nor does it fit into the numbering sequence for B lists. But it fits very well as an 'H' list - in fact brianmorris547 posted another H.5916 on page 32 at id 561 and that too dates to 14 February 1916. Also the list you posted as H.B.6279, is, I think, H.B.8279. What do you reckon? David.

I must pay more attention to my image numbering. Probably need this break that’s coming soon. I’ll PM you with details of the lists I still have to post, should keep me going for most of next year I would think. Dave

With the enormous number of lists you are curating, a few typos are inevitable. I have the easier job of transcribing them and since you are so helpfully posting them in order, it is much easier to spot lists out of date order. As I go back through the index, I spot the inevitable typos I introduced and correct them with each version posted. (That is one of the advantages of going back through them in detail as I transcribe the RFA / RHA men). I'll look forward to the PM and hope you get a very nice break, David. TEW Posted 8 September , 2022 Share Posted 8 September , 2022 Two messy ones from me. CL received 14/6/15. Sheet 1. 115/5873 amendment to 25093 (Extract from 25216) 115/5874 (WO 23979). 18359, 18550, 19721, 19727, 19730, 19733 (reads 1733 but must be an error?) 19734, 19735, 20249, 20250, 20251, 20261. CL received 25/6/15 continued. Sheet 3. 115/6066 Amendments continued. 20271, 20589, 20597, 20611, 20675, 20687, 20960, 20963, 20968, 21101, 21115, 21148, 21152, 21484, 21699, 21703 Just out of interest I checked some of the other numbered lists and found that Sellar (top of page second image) is as it suggests is on list 20271 but has exactly the same details and the same correction. Perhaps these list types were typed up at RFA/RHA records for their own use? TEW

brianmorris547 Posted 10 September , 2022 Share Posted 10 September , 2022 HB 15280 from 1918 Thornley, 6136 W is named in the Times OCL 08/05/1917 under Wounded - Seaforth Highlanders. I have been searching for Seaforth Highlanders around the "Void" which was between 09/05/1917, the last edition of the Times to show Wounded (Deaths only are shown from 15/05/1917), and the WOCLs which begin in August 1917 with the first list dated 30/07/1917. The name above W Thornley in the Times 08/05/1917 is Stewart, 11972 J. He has papers and his AF B 103 shows 9 Bn Seaforths wounded 09/04/1917 to 19 CCS and then to 7 Cdn GH on 10/04/1917 on list HA 8521 (not on the system but in the bracket for April 1917). The name above J Stewart in the Times is Stark, 40489 G. He has a hospital admission MH 106/1125. Adm 18 GH on 11/04/1917. The book records he was also 9 Bn Seaforths wounded at Arras on 09/04/1917. I always like a little story, as one Forum Member once wrote, "This is real history". Brian
