Remembered Today:

Gallipoli brothers

Bob,

Sgt Allen W W B 9Bn AIF Burred Lone Pine Cemetery- first line of brothers below the line.

I think his date of death might be incorrect. It is down as 23 4 15 and they didn't land until 25 4 15. I have tried to find his Service Record through the NAA but no luck for either he or his brother.

Cheers

Chris

Sandra,

All I have is the Allen brothers @ post # 375. Fourth set of brothers down, immediately below the line drawn after the first three sets. I am sure their service records are at the NAA, I just couldn't find them.

Cheers

Chris

Sandra,

Excellent. Well done young lady. Take the day off. :D I had 225 returns on my search at the NAA and neither of them came up - how do you do it?

Bob,

Sgt WWB Allen is down as KIA 25.4.15 as per here http://naa12.naa.gov.au/scripts/Imagine.asp

Cheers

Chris

I do it cos me name is Sandie not Silly :P

It's called knowing the tricks ... :D;)

And ... if you test your link out you will notice he doesn't work!!!

I suspect it is the page that his death is mentioned on ... best give Bob the same link I gave and the page number you want him to look at.

Since the service files all went on line a direct link to the page doesn't work like it used to.

Gawd ... I wasn't meaning you was silly Sir :D

Well ... its using all the resources we have and getting the service number ... and then adding the date range 1914 - 1920.

Sometimes more is less and less is more when it comes to the search criteria.

In this case I got the service number first and then just typed in Allen 1614 and the date range.

I used ADF to get the service number and it was there that the brother's was listed too.

ADF has heaps of errors but is great for narrowing down the research parameters :)

Geoff,

As always your help is gratefully received, thank you.

The Gunnelson error is duly noted and corrected and Mathers and Hooper added to my list which will be amended on the Association web-site in due course. I knew of the Frasers and I'm sure you're correct.

Hopefully some more will materialise,

Bob

Geoff,

As ever I'm most grateful for you input. However, I do have these two, but it will, hopefully, provoke more offerings,

Kind Regards,
