Guest Peter Thomson Posted 11 October , 2006 Share Posted 11 October , 2006 I found your website when doing a google search regarding my two Great Uncles who were both killed at Gallipoli on 28th June 1915. There names are Lieutenant Eric James Thomson and second Lieutenant Francis Wishart Thomson of the Royal Scots Guards. A sad day for my great grandmother losing two sons at the age of 22 yrs and 24 yrs. Part of the reason for doing the search is that I am currently in the process of arranging a school history tour to Gallipoli for Easter 2008. Can anyone give me any pointers as to what these school kids should go and see? And also, does anyone know of a person/company in Turkey who would arrange a guided tour? Thanks, Peter Thomson Bob, Thanks. I look forward to hearing from you when you have a moment! Rgds, Peter

Geoff, Thank you. I have decided the following cannot be definitely attributed to Gallipoli - 1) Jones D - date of death (7.8.16). 2) Hannaford R - date (24.2.16). 3) Hopton EM - date (17.3.16) & according to Westlake, Shropshire Yeomanry were not at Gallipoli. bobpike Posted 14 October , 2006 Author Share Posted 14 October , 2006 Christine, Thank you very much for all this and 'going public'. I came across the entries for both these whilst compiling my 'Gallipoli Brothers' project. You will see they share the same name, date of death, birthplace & parents, but not regiment or place of commemoration. There is a MIC for the 'English' one, and his numbers were originally 7/505, the same as the NZ one, then it became 776. So are they the same person, or were they brothers and the wrong forenames attributed to on on CWGC? I have sent details to CWGC also.

christine liava'a Posted 15 October , 2006 Share Posted 15 October , 2006 partially solved from Rootsweb Greatwar list http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/GREAT...1-09/0999891578 "I recently found these records in a book in a local museum and thought they may be of use to someone.
