absolutely zero interest

not so much zero interest as zero intelligince interlegince innteligen cleverness on my part. As soon as I felt the temptation to do a Scooby Doo ending I ducked out, because it's not big and it's not clever, it's just showing off.

Ok I’ve have a WIT, but there is no photo, and virtually no history, apart from his exploit, will his headstone suffice?

If so you can have his name, so you will have to identify his reason for inclusion, or is that a silly idea?

Ok I will give it a go. I have left his name on just incase the photo is poor. What is his significance?

In Belgium, west of Ieper and Poperinge, so does this suggest that he was killed a long way from where he was buried?

Hi guys... back from two weeks intense work at school ...

Lijssenthoek was a hospital field. So was he KIA or DOW???

Freak accident???

allergic reaction to vaccination??

kick in the head??

Hi M

As far as I can ascertain he died of his wounds received earlier in action on the 10/10/1918.

No accident etc.

I can see that he had a brother, also serving with the Border reg killed in March the year before, who lies elsewhere, but other than that the penny is firmly lodged and refusing to drop.

Last senior officer (lt. Col and above) killed in the Great War? If it is it will be another reason to wander about in Lijssenthoek which is not bad as places to wander around in go.

Well done Pete almost, so you can have the credit

Lt Col GE Beaty-Pownall, last commanding officer to be killed in the Ypres Salient.

Page taken from Paul Chapman book on Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery (cross ref with John Giles 1986 book Flanders Then and Now series), half way down.

Lucky in off the post. Bit of a fluke really. All the credit goes to the lads, it's about the team, I don't care who scores as long as we win. Please feel free to add any further post match interviews with the goalscorer clichés as you see fit.

For me, I had about as much chance of scoring as Blues' chances of winning a game; (except when we play Reading)

Sorry John. 😉

The thread's other resident Reading fan may take umbrage at that too. It occurred to me to wonder who the last senior officer to die was, but it is complicated by individuals dying of wounds after the armistice.

Who is this wounded, or should I say blessé individual. Clue - for one of the two Reading fans among the inmates - it's not Robert Nivelle........
