Tricky. I can only find Thomas Parslow 1650 Royal Irish Fusiliers and Patrick Darcy 1560 Royal Irish Fusiliers, but both men appear to have been discharged.

This appears to be your man's brother, Lawrence Parslow:

I agree. that is what I am working on. There is a (misindexed) pension card with both on.

Problem is that the family are difficult to track, and George has little info on his death

Laurence's marriage

Gives father George, but we have his mother Kate as a claimant on pension card, rather than widow Marcella

I cannot get Lawrence's birth, nor any of the family in census other than Lawrence in 1911 in Dublin which points to  1875 birth in  Dun Laoghaire,

Tom

The nub of the problem is that George Parslow of the pension card does not exist anywhere , other than on this card

I am sure that his brother is Lawrence and mother Kate Manning

But I cannot find anything in BMD other than Laurence's marriage about the family, even Laurence's birth

I cannot find Kate Parslow (she would have to have been a widow) marrying a Manning

Good man David, thank you for trying, he was never going to be an easy one to be sure.

Kind regards.

Tom.

Hi Tom, do you have anything on this man?

SWB roll says he was discharged on 12/06/1917 due to wounds, there is a service record but it's only a few pages and doesn't say much about his injuries. None of the pension cards appear to give a date of death and I can't find any obvious match on CWGC or in the Irish death certs.

Good man Paul, y'know I think we might be able to help each other here. I have a guy and could not find his military service and you have a lad and cannot find his date of death. He is my pitch. He could be this lad or not.

I will have a look on the Leighlin memorial....image.png.46c7586b596cdd219f1e7855b6e8d5e0.png

Cheers Tom. I don't think he's your man though, I had another look at the discharge papers and he was a younger man, aged 26 in 1917.

Good morning George, on the ball as usual. Thank you for that. When I looked at his records it was marked that I looked at them before but could not for the life of me remember why.

I just thought you might be interested in this lad, served in WW1 and discharged in 1915, probably the oldest yet. Easy to research too!.

Seems to have been discharged prior to death.
