museumtom Posted 11 May , 2020 Author Share Posted 11 May , 2020 That looks great George, but can you show that it is the same lad? 'Particulars furnished: Cork, 02/10/1919.' what does this mean please? I know most of the lads in Irish Regiments were discharged at Cork. If you can find him in folder3 that might tie it all together I reckon. I had a look on FMP and all they have is the SWB and the MIC. Thank you for your help George. Kind regards. Tom. Mark1959 Posted 11 May , 2020 Share Posted 11 May , 2020 Chaps. I have a potential for Roche. There is an RMF chap 4/5736. 3 WFA cards. Now they give an address of 20 Paul’s Avenue, Cork but this may be his mother’s. She is just referred to as Mrs. Roche. None give a date of death but 2 have a note that imply he died sometime not too long before mid-April 1921. This is fmp’s indication of this man’s SWB. https://www.findmypast.co.uk/transcript?id=GBM%2FSILVERWAR%2FBADGES%2F143702 Put forward to see if someone can prove or disprove the case. George Rayner Posted 12 May , 2020 Share Posted 12 May , 2020 If it is him he appears to have had pneumonia which was not attributable to service-but caught in Hull! From Service record so reckon you have it on FMP Tom? George

Are we sure it's the same man - 23840 was discharged Class Z to an address in Hull. Craig
museumtom Posted 12 May , 2020 Author Share Posted 12 May , 2020 Thanks Craig. I am guessing, there are so few records for a Victor Vine of the same age I tried a bit of lateral thinking. I have no clue other than the death cert says RE. Kind regards. Tom.
George Rayner Posted 12 May , 2020 Share Posted 12 May , 2020 Well I think he is unfindable. Not a common name-but we should have enough clues to track him down but no! Well hidden under the Bl***** Stone I fear. Not certain it's Engineers-looks like a G. But what could R.G. be? George
museumtom Posted 12 May , 2020 Author Share Posted 12 May , 2020 Its a mystery George a mystery to be sure. I saved him with the Irishmen just the same. Perhaps sometime in the future someone will figure it out. Thanks for all the help but I think it is time to move on to the next mystery. Thanks again for all the help. Kind regards. Tom;.
