Mark1959 Posted 8 May , 2020 Share Posted 8 May , 2020 (edited) There is a Wm J Rusk in the naval medal rolls. Trio. 278691. No other records found yet. Edit That is him. WFA card has him at Annalore and correct DoD. Gives name with an E at end. Brother James was RIF KIA 1/7/16. 3 cards, one says died after discharge. Nothing useful for this purpose. Not sure epilepsy can be considered as caused by service unless due to an injury. Edited 8 May , 2020 by Mark1959
IPT Posted 8 May , 2020 Share Posted 8 May , 2020 Rusk, of Clones, served from 1895 to August 1915. His epilepsy is mentioned. https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D6746504

museumtom Posted 9 May , 2020 Author Share Posted 9 May , 2020 (edited) Funny one this. It says James Keane was from Paisley and died in the asylum in Clonmel, a bachelor aged 50 in 1920. So I am thinking it might be this lad. Or perhaps not. Can you help me please? I have no idea about John Madden. First name(s) James Last name Keane Service number G/3991 Rank Private Badge number 186959 Enlistment date 07-Sep-1914 Discharge date 12-Sep-1916 Regiment/unit Royal Irish Regt. Cause of discharge Sickness Para 392 (xvi) King's Regulation Whether served overseas Yes Badge date of issue 07-Jun-1917 Additional Info This information was obtained from Cards and Attestations and cannot be relied on as the cause of discharge without reference to A.F.B. 179. now at Chelses. All were discharge under Para 392 (xvi) K.R. Edited 9 May , 2020 by museumtom

Mark1959 Posted 9 May , 2020 Share Posted 9 May , 2020 (edited) This chap Kane is a possibility for Keane. https://search.findmypast.co.uk/record?id=GBM%2FWO363-4%2F007276519%2F00451&parentid=GBM%2FWO363-4%2F7276519%2F48%2F451 looks a possibility. WFA card shows he died 11/7/20. Read through and originally from Co. Tipperary. Discharge not attributable. He gives his father as Nok on his 1898 enlistment and his address is in Glasgow Looks as if he was too fond of the bottle. Despite this https://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casualty/2744079/kane,-/ Case proven I think. Edited 9 May , 2020 by Mark1959
