These are the hard ones lads. We would have gone over these in the past but could not find them. This was in the pre-folder3 days. So what we are doing is reviewing them to see if they can be found and added.

Thank you again for your help and patience, there will be a lot of them I am afraid.

Cheers.

 Tom.

I can see it is not possible to find all these sanitorium soldiers so I will create a special section in my own files and save them as untraceable soldiers with the Irishmen, otherwise they would be passed by, and that would be a sin.

Kind regards.

He could possibly be-

Not #749 / #174722 as he was still alive in 1922 by his pension ledger.

He's got a pension record on Ancestry which says he was discharged from ASC 23/03/1916 KR para 392 xxi, which seems to have been "termination of period of engagement". Just opened it, will read further...

Great find George, thank you for that, with that info I can progress him.

Hello Pat, thank you for the information but who are we talking about please?

Sorry Tom! T/21097 Michael Reilly, ASC. He's got an Other Ranks Died pension card (which I can't access) ref: 13/W/5809. He was conscripted on discharge in 1916 (into the RFA, I think).

Its for Michael Reilly.

Judging by his record the military would have been glad to see the back of him !

Hello George, thanks for that. I have added Scally to the Irishmen but I dont have any information on his military service. The KIC I posted was a guess and wondered if someone could confirm it was him. Nothing on FMP for his two number other than an MIC-174722 and 749, Leinster Regiment.

Kind regards.

 Tom.

A quick look in my files shows Patrick Scally from Athlone County Westmeath, and the Scally in the DC is from Ballymahon, P.O. which is in Longford. If it is him then he moved around, but his wife lived in Castlemaine Street, Athlone.

Morning Tom

Hope you enjoyed Bank Holiday.

Edward Scully d 3-10-1915 in Peamount Sanitorium; b abt 1879 Ballymahon (and what does it say between Scally and Ballymahon); soldier (what does it say above in brackets); 36 years old.

Have I got all those correct from your reading of the DC?

Yes thanks not too bad at all. Easterly wind so chilly but sheltered in corners of the garden for afternoon wine!

Thanks for Scally notes-not sure he can be turned up though
