truthergw Posted 2 April , 2011 Share Posted 2 April , 2011 Newport on Tay? Correct. Looking across the Tay at Dundee's War Memorial atop the Law. Take it away, maestro.
Steven Broomfield Posted 2 April , 2011 Share Posted 2 April , 2011 one of the most conspicuous war memorials in UK. Conspicuous? And it's in Dundee!!!! That's not even Up North. It's far worse than that. It's almost the Far, Far North.
truthergw Posted 2 April , 2011 Share Posted 2 April , 2011 I believe you have seen it? Plenty of photographs on the web. Visible and identifiable more than 10 miles away from every point of the compass. I think that can be considered conspicuous.
Steven Broomfield Posted 2 April , 2011 Share Posted 2 April , 2011 Conspicuous in Dundee and its environs, I gtant you. less conspicuous from SW1 or SO50. Just wait until I win this thing and dredge up an entry. Just wait.

Steven Broomfield Posted 2 April , 2011 Share Posted 2 April , 2011 I can honestly say that not only have I never been to Unst, I've never heard of Unst and have no idea where Unst is. I presume it has some form of Arthurian connection, given that T H White's book Unst and the future King seems to have used the name in its title. Near Glastonbury, perhaps? Steven Broomfield Posted 2 April , 2011 Share Posted 2 April , 2011 I'm in a sunken lane, south of the Pigeon Ravine and named for an eponymous doctor. Lance Dafadar Gobind Singh is winning a VC nearby. Looking east, what is the name of the village I can see down the slope? (Bonus point: which regiment is Gobind Singh serving with?)
