It was the bit about it raining that clinched it  the last couple of times I have been there it has been pouring down and cold.........

I am in a cemetery, in august company. There is another cemetery on the outskirts of the village.Near the cemetery is a railway line and behind that a wood which is now a military encampment. There is a significant (as in Great War) expanse of water not too far from where I am. Where am I and who might I be stood by.

Blimey - could be anywhere. Doesn't the original poster (when explaining how the game works) say you have to give three clues??

Yes indeed three clues is the normal fare but you can give fewer or more but given the breadth of the subject three clues is a reasonable minimum. By careful wording you could plant a red herring or by using cryptic clues you could 'spice up' the game. After all it is a bit of fun but hopefully it will help to improve ones knowledge of the Great War.

Well despite the pops being taken at me for lack of information (sorry), I have had a PM (timed 6:40pm) which is pretty close!

Cell & courtyard at Poperinghe?

You could be in the ground of Kilmainham Gaol in Dublin, maybe? Or the Mur des Fusilles in Arras?

BTW I'm moving this to Chit Chat - no reason for it to be in Skindles

Cell & courtyard at Poperinghe?

Correct - that is the actual place I had in mind (although Alan's subsequent suggestions might have met the initial clues), I was beginning to wonder whether I was condemned to have to think of another hint!

Over to you.

I'm standing on a road.looking N/E.To my left, hundreds of Diggers .In front of me,two Diggers. To my right,a couple of hundred Diggers.

Only one of these groups have knowledge of the 'mechanical' type.

I am stood by a memorial on a bend on a quiet road, but busier in the last couple of years. To get here I passed 2 cemeteries, both unusual and picturesque, and a memorial. I can also see another cemetery on a slight rise in the distance. Where am I and whose memorial am I visiting?
