Khaki Posted 11 February , 2014 Author Share Posted 11 February , 2014 I have just started collecting Great War cigarette packs, and so far have Woodbines, Gold Flake, Players and Capstan, nothing exceptional but not too easy to find in good condition, but what was the 'British' brands of box matches for the GW period, seems like it's going to be the tough one as most collections are of the label only. thanks khaki
Lancashire Fusilier Posted 12 February , 2014 Share Posted 12 February , 2014 'British' brands of box matches for the GW period, A U.K. Company ' Tommy's Pack Fillers ' offers reproduction WW1 British match boxes ( see attached ), which also gives you details of the various brands in use at that time. 18th Battalion Posted 1 April , 2014 Share Posted 1 April , 2014 Small Arms! I thought I'd share these here, as I'm sure there are many forum members, who, like myself can't afford and/or doesn't have the space to display large items of militaria; so here is my WW1 Machine Gun collection... in 1/6 scale. 18th Battalion Posted 2 April , 2014 Share Posted 2 April , 2014 I can't claim any modelling skill, they are sold like that. They are made by a company called Dragon who specialise in finished military models from various era's; the Vickers is diecast metal and the MG08 and Lewis are plastic; I did do a bit of painting to the Vickers though, to make it look more correct. Rob B Posted 3 April , 2014 Share Posted 3 April , 2014 No ideas from anyone about what regiment ??, that surprises me, I thought maybe Welsh ? khaki Can I suggest its a Welsh Guards Company pennant. The 2 in the middle could be for Number 2 Company, or B Company? Just an idea, Rob
Khaki Posted 3 April , 2014 Author Share Posted 3 April , 2014 Thanks Rob, Flags are something I know almost nothing about (apart from obvious national colors and devices) so your thoughts are appreciated. khaki
Mitter2k1 Posted 23 May , 2014 Share Posted 23 May , 2014 I guess I will break down and show my little corner the wife permits me to have. So here is my mini museum. If anyone wants a better look at something, let me know. I have few items not displayed at the current time and will be adding another torso or two to the mix in the near future. Thanks for looking, Mike M.

Khaki Posted 23 May , 2014 Author Share Posted 23 May , 2014 Thanks Mick, I got as far as looking through the different British regimental badges, there are a few that use the POW feathers over a coronet, but you are probably correct, likely to be Welsh khaki
trenchtrotter Posted 24 May , 2014 Share Posted 24 May , 2014 Mike A nice display there of US uniforms and equipment . An area sadly lacking in my collection . It's getting harder to aquire and was also the cheaper end of the market. Not so anymore. Thanks again TT

Mitter2k1 Posted 25 May , 2014 Share Posted 25 May , 2014 Thank you guys. Sorry for the delay in replying, I've been away for a few days and was trying to ditch technology in the process. I think I was successful about 50% of the time, which is really good for me. Thanks again, Mike
4thGordons Posted 26 May , 2014 Share Posted 26 May , 2014 Looking good Mike. I have not picked up anything of note recently but am on the look out. We should get together again soon, I have a 33rd Div tunic that I'd like your opinion on. Chris
