I'll stop posting for a bit

Please do, some of us suffer from art failure and you make me very green! :D

Seriously, no offence meant, you should get a web site for them - you obviously have a serious talent (I don't know what art is, but I know what I like, and I like what you do!).

Merry Christmas!

Adrian

Soren,

That is a very kind gesture. We have all been enjoying a remarkable exhibition on this thread. Thankyou for sharing your work with us.

Are you planning an exhibition sometime?

May I suggest that Pals who make use of Soren's work in their Christmas e-greetings spare a thought, and a small sum, for the running of the Forum by making a donation.

Tin rattling over.

Thanks again Soren

Hello again Kate,

There may be something happening shortly, regarding sales/seperate area for my drawings.

With due respect paid from any sales to the forum in way of donation per picture, I am just at present sorting out reasonable prices!

I think you are right regarding a donation to the Forum for any Xmas e-greeting usage of images.

Merry Christmas to all and many thanks to everyone for making me believe in my drawings again.

Soren :)

DEUTSCH

Music: Franz Xaver Gruber, 1818

Words: Joseph Mohr, 1816/1818

Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht,

Alles schläft; einsam wacht

Nur das traute hochheilige Paar.

Holder Knabe im lockigen Haar,

Schlaf in himmlischer Ruh!

Schlaf in himmlischer Ruh!

Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht,

Hirten erst kundgemacht

Durch der Engel Halleluja,

Tönt es laut von fern und nah:

Christ, der Retter ist da!

Christ, der Retter ist da!

Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht,

Gottes Sohn, o wie lacht

Lieb' aus deinem göttlichen Mund,

Da uns schlägt die rettende Stund'.

Christ, in deiner Geburt!

Christ, in deiner Geburt!

Heute singt man nur die Strophen 1, 6 und 2 (oben) von der originellen Joseph-Mohr-Version (1816). ENGLISH

Music: Franz Xaver Gruber, 1818

Words: John Freeman Young, 1863

Silent night, holy night

All is calm all is bright

'Round yon virgin Mother and Child

Holy infant so tender and mild

Sleep in heavenly peace

Sleep in heavenly peace

Silent night, holy night,

Shepherds quake at the sight.

Glories stream from heaven afar,

Heav'nly hosts sing Alleluia;

Christ the Savior is born

Christ the Savior is born

Silent night, holy night,

Son of God, love's pure light.

Radiant beams from Thy holy face,

With the dawn of redeeming grace,

Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth

Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth

Today only verses 1, 6 and 2 (above) from the original Joseph Mohr version (1816) are sung.

  • 2 weeks later...

Having received a new watercolour set for Christmas, I have decided to start painting again after a break of a few years. At the moment I have completed five paintings depicting the dress of The Royal Dragoons during their long history. Here is a Corporal of the 1st (Royal) Dragoons as he would have appeared in 1918:

Hello All!

Having given you a little break, I thought that I'd bore you with some more of my out pouring.....

Any criticism/comments regarding any technical oversights with the uniforms/Vehicles glad fully accepted!

I tend to just let it flow, so therefore don't really get bogged down in detail, if however something is glaring at you I'd appreciate guidance :)

1st go at a bus/transport :o

Worried these might seem off topic... just thought I'd show you what my mainstream stuff is like.... I feel that the drawings are still haunted by the Great War <_<
