Hello!

I checked the fieldpost-stations. The station of 123rd division was N° 832.

It´s not Artillerie-Kommandeur 123, but 125!

The Art.Kdr.125 belonged  to 33.Res.Div. (march-august 1918).

The fieldpost number of that division was N° 956. Check the stamp, please. I think, we see the 956 in the written one too.

If you agree, call me "Eagle-eye"... :D

The 33rd Res.Div. was during that period northwest of Rheims to be engaged in the may offensive. Cauroy (27th), St. Thierry (28th) and Vrigny (31st)

Thanks Eagle eye. 😀

Hi,

No one who wants to make a start?

Well, I give it a try, but is’s more guessing than reading – and some gaps:

Christine

“Auf Marsch!”

„Liebe Schwester Berta,

die besten Grüße sendet

dir dein Bruder [and then comes, I think, a nickname for Kurt, something like Kürtchen?]. xxx

immer gesund und munter

was ich auch von mir sagen.

Kann. Gruß an Eltern

und Geschwister“

Something like:

“Dear sister Berta,

best regards sends your brother Kurt. [Hope] you are safe and sound as I can say about me.

Regards to parents and brothers and sisters."

Sender is Kurt Lenz ….

Sent to:

Berta Lenz

Hello!

#803:

The stamp probably says:

K.B. ??. A.C. 4.F.P.K.

Königlich Bayerisches ?? Armecorps, 4.Feld-Pionier-Kompagnie

I set the question marks, because that unit belonged to the I.Res.Corps, but I can´t recognize a "I".

Hi,

the handwritten address on the 2nd card has the sender as Leutnant der Res. M (?) Bauer, 4. Komp. II. Bataillon, 5bayer. Reserve Division.

Anyone who can fill the gaps/correct?

"L. Sch! Herzl. Dank für deine frdl.

Führung [???] meiner Frau und die

liebenswürdige Aufnahme. Hätte [?]

da gern [?] mal geschrieben, aber

wie’s halt so geht. Ein besseres Bild

habe ich z. Zt. nicht. Xxx m. freundl.

u. xxx herzl. Grüßen Dein M. Bauer [thought it was Kauer, but could of course be Bauer]"

Hi Christine,

well done. Can elliminate all questionmarks from my point of view, would offer a different transliteration for the last sentence, though_

"deiner w[erten] Familie und Dir herzl[iche] Grüße, Dein ....

...cordial greetings to your esteemed familiy and yourself, Yours.....

First name could actually start with an "A" having looked long and hard at it, with a ligature connecting it to surname.

The card is addressed to a Hauptlehrer - a schooldirector of a small elementary/village school or a teacher at elementary/gradeschool level at a larger school with admin. function.

Just got hold of another small mixed lot of photos - some are damaged but a good few have writing on them (and postal marks) a few quick scans:

This one is easier for me to translate (but the signaller? crossed flag patch on the sleeve is not something I have seen before)German-12.jpg.e756412112a88a07d5da43fe97d7baa5.jpg

Hi Chris,

signaller´s patches are not that uncommon. I think there were different versions w regard to shape of the flags over time. There were also patches for signallers of the navy, if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the link to the other signaller's patch GreyC.

One last image from the recent lot - three different styles of tunic here. The middle one is of a pattern unfamiliar to me.

I couldn't tell if it was actually black or not, or just shadow. I was aware of the date implications of that -- any insights on the middle tunic?

Hi Chris,

I am not an expert on tunics. I´d suggest:

Bluse M15;  Feldbluse M15 mit unvorschriftsmäßigen Taschen (improper pockets - not that rare); vereinfachter/simplyfied Feldrock M 15

Let´s see what the Prussian has to say to my proposal.

I just picked up another small lot - just now sorting through them - any ideas on this uniform? All the others in the lot appear to be Great War or earlier German.
