Her we have on the left a private of the 14th Battalion (Royal Montreal Regiment) and in the centre a Miltary Medalist of the 31st (Alberta) Overseas Battalion. Seated on the right the Gunner may be either RGA or RFA Canadian or British hard to tell.

An unidentified soldier of the 16th (Canadian Scottish) Battalion. His battle patch is just visible and his relative? wears the KOSB cap badge in her bonnet.

The first meeting of the AEF and the CEF in France, a Colonel and two majors of the AEF are met by Officers of the 38th (Central Ontario) Battalion. Not the Blue Circle over the Green rectangle and the C/38 Collar Badges.

Late war photo and no Batt indicators. Interesting. How common were they worn in the field?

Here is an interesting comparision on the right the Seaforth Highlander comes from Consett, County Durham.

On the left the Seaforth Highlander comes from British Columbia. He wears a British tunic but with maple leaf collar badges. Not sure about the belt.

TT no need to go that far.

I can't see the point of having all these photo's and keeping them a secret. I know I get a little peeved when others reproduce them and don't give a credit but thats life you will always get a rip off merchant. As a certain member did when he reposted my Machine Gun Guards lad wearing Grenadier Guards titles on his arm.

When I have done my books many people very kindly let me use their treasured family photos and they are really pleased to see that there relatives are included as part of the battalion/Brigade history and in each case many come forward with photos after publication. So it is only right to share them as I am only looking after them until I fade away and the kids "weigh them in" to get their inheritance.

regards

John

Difficult to tell at this resolution, but the "Bandolier Equipment Pattern 1903 Web waist belt" from 1917 onwards would be a good contender (a converted 1908 cross-strap would be another):
