My profound apologies folks - I blamed the battalion when it was only one man.

I am sorry and I should have known better than to spit the dummy at my age.

Last night I scanned the following and it would seem a shame to waste the time spent.

I don't know if this has been covered anywhere else but I have a good collection of Officer Cadet battalion photo's

They are intresting because of the cap badges used before they get commissioned

NO 1 OCB used a Brass 1

Here we have No 7 OCB based at Moore Park Camp County Cork.

What is unusual is that the Training NCO's also wear the VII/CB cap badge

My profound apologies folks....

You are a bigger man than most TC. My respects to you.

Cracking thread this by the way. I can't say I'd really noticed it before, but now I'm hooked. Keep up the good work - I suspect that there are many silent fans like myself who wish they could add something constructive.

Number 9 OCB was based at Gailes in Ayrshire.

What is unusual is they seem to wear both a cloth 9 and the badge of their regiment.

Two more from 9 OCB

I can't work out whether this lad is North or South Staffs the Officers bronze being difficult to tell. However he is a MM winner

The second chap was the only officer with a first name of EDGCUMBE sceond name Sinclair discharged to commission in the DLI 20/12/16

This next one is very unusual in my book. A Sapper Officer Cadet Unit, They wear the RE Badge but with the Royal Cypher GvR removed.

A friend who is a Sapper Major took this to the RE museum and they had heard of it but were unable to comment on why, where, or when.

Oh by the way

When I served with the LAD REME of 4 RTR I learned the following

"It wasn't the Yanks who won the war,

It was my Boy Willie.

With a tank, a tank mark IV,

thats who won the bloody war,"

But we really know it was the Durhams, never the N & D's

"You are a bigger man than most TC".

My wife wants to know how you know I am 20 stone and 6'2".

regards

John

If I'd known that before, I would have referred to you as Mr. TC.
