Sausage Valley' And below that it says' Y Sap or Lochnager' British Tank under German Colours, near Rheims.

Ian C Posted 15 March , 2009 Share Posted 15 March , 2009 Hi Iain Just seen that, she does have a head she is looking down and has a hat on, I'll see if I can lighten the picture a bit. Regards Ian
Ian C Posted 15 March , 2009 Share Posted 15 March , 2009 Hi Iain I think this helps a bit, its seems the hat was a perfect camo job to go with the dress!!
Paul Reed Posted 15 March , 2009 Share Posted 15 March , 2009 Last one for today. Puisieux, used as an observation post by the Germans 15.09.17 That's an interesting one. I don't ever recall seeing that, but it must have taken some shifting if it's no longer there!? As usual, these are superb - thanks for posting them. mebu Posted 16 March , 2009 Share Posted 16 March , 2009 Some nice pictures there. I am intrigued by the OP in the mill at Puisieux.......it looks relatively unscathed to be at this location, and the Germans were not in the vicinity in September 1917. As the date is specific...15/09/1917....could it be elsewhere? There was Puisieux farm near Moy (St Quentin), close to front line, British held in late '17, but I'm not sure Watson went down there. There was also a mill at Baizieux, near Henencourt, concreted by British spring 1918, but I don't think it's that one. I'll try and make some enquiries, any info/thoughts meanwhile welcome. Ian C Posted 16 March , 2009 Share Posted 16 March , 2009 Hi Peter I don't if it is any help but on both photo's after the word Puisieux there is (Somme), does that help narrow it down? Regards IanC
