isadore Posted 2 May , 2006 Share Posted 2 May , 2006 Thanks for that Tom, I'd say you are correct about him living in Clara, it makes more sense that way. I'll try contacting the Chronicle to see if they will give me the source of the other record. Isadore

Guest TommyGun Posted 21 June , 2006 Share Posted 21 June , 2006 Tom, I was wondering is you could help, i have just recived my Great Grand Fathers and Uncle medals. My Great Grand Uncle was suposed to have died in the war, his details are as follows: (I got both there Medal Cards.) Joseph Brennan Privete 3824, Irish Guards, I have his 14 Star, and he Disembarkation date of 13-9-14. I think this has to put him in the 1st Batt on the way to France. Do you have record of his death?

museumtom Posted 21 June , 2006 Author Share Posted 21 June , 2006 He is not in Soldiers died in the great war, Irelands Memorial records, nor is he listed with the CWGC. However I notice that he has a swb (silver War Badge) this was given to soldiers discharged with sickness or wounds. This badge had a number on the back and may be with the medals. The good news is that if you ask the 'experts' on this forum for a lookup of the SWB with the reference numbers listed beside the letters SWB on his MIC they may be able to get you a copy of it. When you do it will tell you when he enlisted, when he was discharged and why he was discharged, i.e. sickness, wounds etc. I hope this helps you find the truth. Tom. museumtom Posted 7 November , 2006 Author Share Posted 7 November , 2006 Hello Glyn. Apologies for not getting back to you sooner. I did not notice your post. Joshua Morgan is not in SDww2 sorry. Thomas Sneddon was born in Girvin in Ayrshire and enlisted in Glasgow. He was killed in action. There is only one Sneddon in De Ruvigneys roll of honour but not Thomas. The other Sneddon was also in a Scots regiment (Lothian). Regards. Tom.
isadore Posted 19 November , 2006 Share Posted 19 November , 2006 Hi Tom, when you have some time I am looking for a soldier from your old neck of the woods of Longwood Co Meath. All I have is a name - John Smith and that he died in the Battle of the Somme aged 14. Would appreciate a look up to see if there many soldiers with this name in IMR? Over 400 hits on CWGC for 1916 thought IMR would narrow it down. Was wondering if it would be worth my while going to the Nat. Library if there are a lot Thanks Isadore
