Mark Finneran Posted 31 December , 2017 Author Share Posted 31 December , 2017 MG08/15 thread now up to date with photobucket posts replaced. It will make some follow on conversations redundant but these can can be re-energised if required. Mark
Mark Finneran Posted 31 December , 2017 Author Share Posted 31 December , 2017 (edited) This is an important period image, showing the hard to find trench mount. Plus the barrel carrier. Edited 31 December , 2017 by Mark Finneran

Mark Finneran Posted 1 January , 2018 Author Share Posted 1 January , 2018 Another excellent view of the 'ersatz/expedient' bipod. Period imagery shows 3 main types of bipod used with the MG08/15 during WWI, with some minor variations on those 3, again probably unit armourer repairs/modifications. Mark Finneran Posted 4 January , 2018 Author Share Posted 4 January , 2018 Earlier it was discussed about the 3 main bipods. This shows an interesting alteration, the tubular bipod and a clamp fitting as per the expedient bipod.

The metal tracked part of the wheel is simply that studded plated wheels for 'off road'. The traditional rubber wheel is for road use, and I was informed in some cases the rubber tyre could be removed completely. So as always great German efficiency. Best of both worlds the first 'all weather tyre'!
