Duke of Cornwall Mounted Group

Lovely!

Looks like part of the Transport section: officer on left of photo, sergeant on right, pack mules in front, GS Hairies behind. An infantry battalion had over 50 horses on strength.

Interesting P/C of German Medics in a trench, above the dugout entrance two live shells and what looks like a Taube flying overhead if it is'nt it's a vary elaborate wind direction vein.

I hope no-one minds me posting this German P/C amongst an otherwise Allied collection

This chap is interesting, his cap badge is Derbyshire Yeomanry with riding breeches and spurs. I wonder if he served during the Boar War and re-enlisted into the 5th Battn. I know that 200792 Sgt.Edgar Woodcock, 5th Battn, who's photo I put on earlier did.

I did do a second take when posting the p/c as the cap badge did not look like a Notts & Derby badge which I would recognise, But I have in my collection two other cards of L/Cpl Dakin and also his divisional card for bravery in the field on which all his details that I quoted where listed, The other P/Cs have just his name on.

Sgt Wilfred Brown 17th Notts and Derby, recovering from wounds recieved 3/9/16. On that date too he also won the MM but was recommended for the DCM.

Lower photograph post 629. I think that I have seen this photograph before. I am almost certain that it was taken in 1917 during the 5th Army Annual flower show where Pte Elijah Chadwick, 7th Queen's, won first prize with his invisible aspidistra.

Wonderful images. I like the last with the clear Canadian battle patch / unit flash. Interesting that the others dont have any. Like the Germans too...nice to see.

Many thanks
