I wonder if he served during the Boar War and re-enlisted into the 5th Battn. I know that 200792 Sgt.Edgar Woodcock, 5th Battn, who's photo I put on earlier did. I did do a second take when posting the p/c as the cap badge did not look like a Notts & Derby badge which I would recognise, But I have in my collection two other cards of L/Cpl Dakin and also his divisional card for bravery in the field on which all his details that I quoted where listed, The other P/Cs have just his name on. I am almost certain that it was taken in 1917 during the 5th Army Annual flower show where Pte Elijah Chadwick, 7th Queen's, won first prize with his invisible aspidistra.
