Thanks Ron. The background is I am working on family history, I have one missing great grandparent. 

My Paternal Grandmother (deceased) did not know her Father, we are told he was a Black Watch RSM called David. 

My Grandmother was born in Dockenfield in Surrey not far Bordon in May 1926. The 2nd Battalion was based between 1922-25.

 

I’m waiting for some paperwork but we believe we do not have the surname. 
 

Of course we may have the wrong rank/ the entire story being just that, a story...

Thanks again Ron. We believe 2nd Btn as ‘in the area’ and the name is David ‘X’, might have incorrect rank. Perhaps CSM rather than RSM.
