David26 Posted 1 August , 2023 Author Share Posted 1 August , 2023 It's been a couple of months since the last version of the index was published so it seems time for a new one. It adds a further 103 entries so we now have 11,275 lists on the index. Just a couple of amendments since the last version: ID Change made 5310.1 Added new entry 5353 Corrected list number (from 23966 to 23956) 5415 Corrected date (from 1917 03 13 to 1917 07 23) 5342 Corrected list number (from 16643 to 15643). TEW Posted 24 January Share Posted 24 January I've found copies of the Admission & Discharge forms W 3034 & A36 used by FAs, CCSs & Hospitals. I've added them to the Army Forms Scans topic. I also added a copy of a B103 to demontrate how they were used/quoted. I now think I'm not so sure as the B103 seems to quote the form but I can't see how a copy of a A36 or W3034 was copied to each Record Office. Surely we would have some surviving scrap recycled copies? As far as I know the H, HA HB, C etc. type lists were the ones circulated to Records Offices. TEW Posted 13 February Share Posted 13 February Regarding the ICRC images. I've discovered the hi-res versions can be downloaded as a batch using Downthemall. What I don't understand at present is the ICRC file/folder structure and how to find other batches. The main topic has two links to 151 images on the page starting with R53081 and 204 images on the page starting R51812. https://grandeguerre.icrc.org/en/List/3211305/699/53081/ https://grandeguerre.icrc.org/en/List/5037990/699/51812/ The URLS are; /List/3211305/699/53081/ and /List/5037990/699/51812/ It's the bits in bold that have me stumped, I know it's their structuring system but without access to each page I can only access the two pages already linked to. I've also tried adjusting the 53081 If you did want to 'downthemall' for the two links so far the download line would be: https://media.grandeguerre.icrc.org/full-resolution/C/G1/E/01/03/C_G1_E_01_03_0018/C_G1_E_01_03_0018_[0001:0151].JPG https://media.grandeguerre.icrc.org/full-resolution/C/G1/E/01/03/C_G1_E_01_03_0010/C_G1_E_01_03_0010_[0001:0204].JPG TEW

That is interesting. I believe a key reason that images of the known lists have not been published on the forum is due to copyright concerns. For lists found on the big subscription sites, the casualty lists are just a tiny fraction of their overall holdings. But the picture for the ICRC site is less clear hence erring on the side of caution and not publishing the images. Your point about the difficulty in understanding their structuring system adds to that sense of uncertainty, but I wondered if, in your research into the site, you have come to any thoughts as to how extensive the site may be and therefore whether the lists we have from it are likely to constitute a large or small percentage of the total? TEW Posted 16 February Share Posted 16 February David, I'm sort of making plans as to the best approach in seeing what their archives hold. It'll have to be filed in the work in progress folder for me. I will report back. TEW

David26 Posted 17 March Author Share Posted 17 March With apologies for the gap in updating the index since last August - here is the latest version.
