Don't think I included Pte. Frederick William Jeanes, 6th Lincolns, who landed at Gallipoli on 15th October 1915 and died of wounds in France on 8th September 1916. He's buried in Contay Cemetery.

There's a photograph of him here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Small-Town-Great-War-Hucknall-1914-1918/117600881609310#!/note.php?note_id=191620547523357.

Bob, a new discovery this morning, Arthur Leslie Rhodes, who was killed aboard HMS Stephen Furness on 13th December 1917. He left an account of his part in the Gallipoli evacuation, which I've transcribed here:

A little more information re. Arthur Leslie Rhodes.

From an anonymous officer from HMS Stephen Furness:

“He was my right-hand man. I never want a better man to with than your son; always loyal, true and very cheerful. I never saw him otherwise under any circumstances. He was one of the most popular chaps on the ship, and everyone had a good word for him. I did not myself see him from the time the ship was struck to the time she went down. The carpenter, who is also one of the few lucky survivors, could not say too much for your son, for he fulfilled his difficult job as a ship’s steward in a very satisfactory way to all concerned in the ship.”

From his former employer, Boots Ltd:

“Leslie was a good Christian lad. I always had a great admiration for his manly, upright character. The firm have lost a valuable and most promising employee, and I a young who loss I feel keenly.”

‘Hucknall Dispatch’, 3rd January 1918.

Here is a list of 17 Derbyshire Yeomen who served at Gallipoli and later died in other Theatres (mostly Macedonia). I have researched over 1,500 DY men and I am certain that these men served at Gallipoli. All their MICs show landing in Egypt on 27th April 1915 from where the regiment sailed to Gallipoli, landing at Suvla Bay in the early hours of 18th August 1915. 8 of these men died in a small (Troop level) cavalry charge at what turned out to be Bulgarian MGs on 20th Aug 1916. I hope this helps. MG. (please excuse any formatting slips as this is pasted directly from my database).

There is also Lt Col Oswald Mosely Crowshaw DSO who served at Gallipoli with the City of London Yeomanry (Roughriders), commanding A Sqn. He was originally 19th Hussars and then QOR Glasgow Yeomanry, then Roughriders and finally served with the Australian Army and died at Polygon Wood commanding the 53rd Bn AIF and by most accounts was a fairy exceptional individual. Private 1652 James F Aldous, he would have landed at Suvla on 10th August 1915, died of wounds on Lemnos 23rd August 1915. He's buried in East Mudros Military Cemetery.

Private 2543 Jack Amey, he would have landed at Suvla on 10th August 1915, died in Cairo 12th October 1915. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Amey of 81 Lothair Road, Finsbury Park, London; and was born at Haverhill, Suffolk. He died serving with C Company. Jack is buried in Cairo War Memorial Cemetery.

Private 2069 Percy William Arbon, he would have landed at Suvla on 10th August 1915, died of wounds on Malta 26th September 1915. He's also buried in Pieta Military Cemetery.

Private 2496 (later 240617) Cyril Mann Baylis, landed on Gallipoli 5th November 1915 (at least according to his MIC), died in Alexandria 10th November 1917. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. F. W. "Henry Steele survived Gallipoli only to die on the Somme in September 1916 – one of 350 men of the 5th Dorsets to be killed, wounded or missing in three days and one of 72,000 with no known grave who are commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. (1)

Another Gallipoli survivor was Iwerne Minster-born L/Cpl Herbert Walley, of the 5th Dorsets, who died in Flanders in October 1917 probably from wounds sustained in the later stages of the Passchendaele offensive." (2)
