MDPMicahDominicParsons Posted 19 September , 2023 Share Posted 19 September , 2023 Hello everyone, I have been following this topic with great interest but I was not able to find much reference to men wounded in action whilst serving with The 1/6th Battalion, The Royal Warwickshire Regiment between July 1916 and March 1917 which should mainly be listed under the Warwick Records Office. I was wondering if any documents relating to this eight month period which I may have missed? Thank you so much for sharing this fascinating topic with us all! David26 Posted 20 September , 2023 Share Posted 20 September , 2023 Hi Micah, while we have an impressive number of casualty lists here (over 11000), there are far, far more which are currently missing. These probably run into hundreds of thousands. So unfortunately it is just a matter of luck as to which have been preserved and been discovered so far, but if there are specific ones anyone is especially hoping to find the chances are sadly pretty slim that we have them. As you'll have noticed though, new discoveries are made and lists published here from time to time so we should always remain hopeful! There are also three other threads which have casualties listed. They are a set of partial casualty lists where usually a large part of the piece of paper is missing; casualties evacuated on No.31 Ambulance Train and No.19 CCS's operation schedule. Here are the links, and happy hunting! David.
brianmorris547 Posted 20 September , 2023 Share Posted 20 September , 2023 Micah The Times printed the Official Casualty Lists for that period on a daily basis. It will show all names under Wounded - Royal Warwickshire, also gassed and shock-shell. Some TF Units have their own lists i.e. they will be shown under Bn number but these are for 1915. The 1916 lists are for all Bns of the Regiment and you will have to compare the names to the Service Medal and Award Rolls. I used to be able to access the Times Digital Library via my Lancashire Libraries Card but from this year can no longer do so. Lancashire Libraries no longer subscribe to it. Local newspapers of where your man was from may also show local casualties extracted from the main lists. Brian.
